General Personality While seeming a bit distant, Yukiko is actually quite a sweetheart. Denying her instincts to simply devour the souls of those lost in her endless snowstorm, Yukiko instead invites people into her hearth to help them. Yukiko is sweet, kind, and gentle to those around her, and often acts more like a housewife than a proper yukionna. | |
Background Yukiko was born a yukionna born into a traditional “family” of snow women. Her family, consisting of sisters, cousins, and aunts, were all yukionna that reveled in the devouring of souls and life essence from mortal beings. From an early age, Yukiko was taught how to work her ice magic into huge snow storms, create dangerous icicles, and freeze opponents solid while still alive. This made Yukiko a cold individual, and she grew up doing exactly as her mother told her to, making sure to bring in plenty of prey for her family and group. However, around the time Yukiko started to properly come of age, the snow woman began to show signs of a strange ability: spiritual empathy. Whenever Yukiko drained the soul of an individual, she would gain flashes of memories and the final parting words of regret that left her confused. The more Yukiko devoured, the more confused she became with each memory and instance of parting regret. Until, finally, Yukiko got the glimpse of the children and large family left behind by someone. Unable to comprehend such a terrible act, the yukionna woman ran away. In her time away, she struggled and fought with her instinct, attempting to train herself into devouring only small amounts of spiritual essence, and she learned to even feed off of the aura of others living beings which allowed her to stay even healthier. Another practice that took some time to master was the art of reformation which allowed her to get a healthy dose of practical nutrients and a decent dose of spiritual essence without killing anyone else. Yukiko now lives up, alone, on a mountain that has a graveyard surrounding it, often tending to the graves of those who previously died on the mountain due to the perpetual snowstorm that naturally surrounded it. Which allowed her to save some energy since she didn't need to create a snowstorm to attract prey. On top of that, the shrine acts as a midway point for travelers into the nearby town, giving her plenty of opportunity to assist travelers and even gain food.
