Nobody ever imagined that Istya would make it into her adult years.
Even Istya herself is a little surprised, to be honest. It certainly wasn't her intention, especially when she was younger.
Born into a family of nobles, Istya was always fascinated by her heritage> Not the noble part (she always found that a little stifling), but the part where she apparently comes from a line of powerful druids!
She spent the first few dozen years of her life trying and failing to master even the simplest druidic spells, causing humiliation to her otherwise well-respected household.
Her "studies" never got further than picking herbs and brewing fairly basic potions (actually just tea. She can make a nice cup of tea)
Disheartened, she decided the only way to support the nature she adored was to return to it. So instead of using her rudimentary understanding of herboligy to help the animals, Istya shoved herself down a griffon's throat.
When a servant came running, saying that the dumb elf was waist deep in a griffon's gullet, her family were furious. Having her removed, and the griffon fed an extra portion of food to placate it's now ravenous hunger, her parents decided that Istya needed to be under more careful observation.

Now Istya lives deep in the Nexus forest, in a large cottage with plenty of servants to keep an eye on her, with occasional visits from her mother to make sure she is well.
She wanders off every now and then, picking herbs and glowers outside of the large garden she was provided, but thankfully, no trouble has befallen her... yet.

But in the end, nobody could really say Istya existed at all. Everything she ever was, hoped for, dreamed about, was nothing more than a dream for the young dragon Merithra, a whole life dreamed, only to be caught by the sweet young thing and gobbled up, the memory of Istya already fading from her memory when she awoke full and happy the next day.
