Concerning Angels
Angels. You don’t often hear about them, people acknowledge that they’re real, after all there’s plenty of demons and other fantastical creatures about, there’s even gods and nobody denies their existence. The only thing about angels that people are certain about is that they’re definitely in the ‘good guy’ corner, but that it’s better to steer clear since they only seem to show up in the mortal plane during the most dire times of a major demon incursion and even then it’s not usually to save people, but to fight back the demons and purge any of their corruption. When it comes to their appearance, there’s a lot of debate, there have been reports of angels the size of a house and other reports making them out no different than a winged humanoid, others talk about monstrous forms with no bodies, lots of faces and wings and there’s a truth to all of them as they come in many different forms and sizes, depending on their role and purpose and many of them can change their appearance.
As far as their power goes, they are usually ranked among the most powerful beings although not all of them are at the same level, but they’re not infallible with the biggest threat and weakness being that they might fall to corruption, which is one of the reasons why they so rarely get involved directly, their number is relatively small compared to demons and devils, who have managed to create more of them by twisting mortal souls and changing them, rarely does a mortal live up to the high standards and ascend to become an angel.
Lastly it is perhaps important to clear up some misconceptions, angels by and large are not tied to any god or other deity, they have a strict hierarchy, but all they live for is the duty of keeping mortal souls safe from corruption the exact reasons behind this are unknown to all but the highest ranking angels. Another misconception is that Angels are chaste and ‘pure’. The reason why so many people seem to fall for this misconception is that corruption and demons are quick to take advantage of those desires and urges, getting them hooked on the pleasure to make deals, egg them on to ever more depraved things until all inhibitions fall away. It would be strange for angels to condemn love and the various expressions thereof, even the more physical, lustful, physical expressions thereof. After all some of the most noble, acts have been committed in the name of love.
Izandre
Izandre is one of the ‘younger’ angels having spent merely one mortal life span as one of the winged protectors of the divine. Who she was before then, what her mortal name was, what deeds earned her the ascension to become an angel, she doesn’t remember any of it. What matters is that she became an angel and underwent training to use the new powers at her disposal. After this she was assigned to watch over a minor domain, monitoring the mortals in the region, but forbidden from interfering unless a major hellish incursion occurs. Her activities limited to empowering some clerics, paladins and other mortals fighting for a just cause, only once appearing in the dreams of one of them. Being faith- and dutiful she fulfilled her task to satisfaction, although it pained and ached her that she wasn’t able to do more. Izandre was never shy about voicing her displeasure with the state of affairs, how they should be doing more, bemoaning how they had become little more than myths, their in-person appearances feared more than that of a demon! How could they be happy with this sad state of affairs, demons, devils and other forces of evil were out and about throughout the lands, never more than a short ritual away. Meanwhile praying to the light, or an angel took conviction, a just cause and would leave the bulk of the burden to the mortals. Slowly but surely people were losing faith across the lands and she had gathered the data to support this claim, an increase in hellish activity and a down turn in people praying to the light. The clear signs of an impending major demonic incursion, if not something worse altogether were clear, but the angels had resolved to handling the matter the same way they always had – wait it out and if things went from bad to worse, they would come crushing down with their full might, smiting indiscriminately. Izandre couldn’t believe it, this exact behaviour was responsible for the sorry state of things. Yes, the strategy had worked if one didn’t take into account how mortals saw these events, how the angels indiscriminate purging of evil, their appearance only in moments of desperate crisis had made people more fearful of them than almost any devil or demon ever did. Leaving it to mortals to clean up their own problems until the problem became too big to ignore would spiral out of control and lead to the angel’s inevitable loss. They were far fewer in number and the risk of becoming corrupted, of falling in one of many ways, the old proverb about good intentions and where they lead rings that much more true for one with as much power at their disposal as an angel and such, very, very good intentions.
Much to her surprise, Izandre’s words didn’t fall entirely on deaf ears – these dangerous developments had not eluded the other angel’s notice – perhaps it had been hubris to think only the young angel had realized. Decisions were not to be rushed and what steps to take the subject of many a discussion. Somewhat humbled, Izandre took all of that in before making her suggestion. Clearly they needed to get involved more directly, but carefully, a measured approach was in order. A decision was made. Izandre was to be the one on the ground, she would have to report in on her progress of course and her powers would be limited, she would be ‘shackled’ unable to bring her full power to bear, both to avoid collateral damage and to keep her from going overboard with her powers. Her duty only vaguely outlined, but twofold, to seek and root out hellish corruption and influences and to generally assist people in rooting out evil across the land.
Setting out things initially were a bit rough, when introducing herself as an angle a lot of people were worried, afraid even, meeting her with the utmost respect and reverence , even nobles and those of higher rank treating her like a time bomb about to go off a the slightest provocation or mention of hellish corruption and activities, so she has taken to introducing herself as merely an emissary a lesser variant of angel, just a blessed mortal and things have become a little easier after that. A lot of people are still weary and show deference once she proves that she is who she is and what she’s capable of. In time she has taken on the role of something of an adventurer, acting as an inquisitor and earned herself a fairly good reputation for standing up for what’s right using both magic as well as traditional armaments to defeat those worthy of her attention. When there’s larger threats she’s often the one organizing people and usually the centre of attention. Sometimes it’s frustrating not to be allowed to unleash her full might, knowing that she could save people but that just is not her role at this point. There have been some few occasions where she’s been granted full use of her powers, at other times she has even met defeat since her powers have been diminished to a point that leaves her vulnerable to any number of things and she has gotten in over her head a number of times, though of course the consequences for her are somewhat lesser than mortals, she’s still subject to mockery and teasing by the other angels before she’s able to return to the mortal plane.
The Rest
Izzy is definitely more predatory by nature, but I do so enjoy being prey every now and then.
She's a bit of a selective pred, though she's certainly not above being tempted sometimes.
Romance is not out of the question, but she's not a demon and has to warm up to someone and feel like there's an actual connection before she considers sleeping with them.
Just how powerful/powerless she is depends largely on the scene in question.
Soul vore things are definitely on the table when she's predding on someone corrupted in some way. As prey, hers is a bit harder to claim.
As far as OOC things go, I do much prefer playing in 3rd person, grammar and spelling should be a given.
