Izumi(left) and Mai(right) are two childhood friends in a modern fantasy style world, they grew up together and are rather really close to eachother, in fact they got so close they do things together nearly all the time and have many things in common in their daily lives with eachother. Their world has both a modern and magical society mixed together and making a relatively equal civilization to our own, though they can be played in other similar settings to their world. Anyway again they been together all their lives, a magic user who became a water element witch and a youkai known as a water oni.
Despite their world being modern, there are many things replaced by magic, such as energy, wireless connections, light sources, even equipment, though tech exists as well. Another thing is Izumi and Mai are part of the upper class of their world, owning a manor and a large sum of money, making what they have around them a bit more advanced and first class then the general population. They have robot cleaners, robots, not androids or humandoid looking machines... Their manor is a smaller one, barely being able to be called a manor rather then a large home, the Nozami Manor, Nozami is Mai's family name and also Izumi who was adopted into the family.
They are actually athletes and tournament runners in anything water related, they actually are in their worlds Olympics in water games categories. The water based games are usually done by those of the water element of magic, but restrictions are placed on the magic usage so things are still fair in the games.

Izumi, Nozami, is a water oni with very high levels of power for the element, spiritual magical and reality, of water, her affinity for it is actually an absolute 100%, meaning manipulating water is as easy as breathing for her, or maybe easier, like thinking or subconsciously doing it, some say that while it is a 100% for it, it really goes past it. In all she can be a walking tsunami, but is a very Kind and nice girl, she likes drinking sake and other alcoholic drinks like an Oni does but doesn't drink so much she gets drunk or begins to act differently. She is a cautious individual of new people or strangers, possibly even new things as well, glancing at them and then her friend Mai to see if she should at least try to get to know the other or try it.
Izumi being a youkai is more of a spiritual being, one of the water element, spiritual beings can reform themselves over time should anything happen, a very nice thing to her, though her age would outlast most mortals, luckily Mai is a witch...

Mai, Nazomi, is a water witch, she can do a bit of summoning, sealing, and barrier magics, but mainly is water element as well, she can solidify water or pressurize it, something Izumi can do way better then her. She is a happy go lucky individual, who can be a great friend and is a wonderful counterpart for the shy Izumi. She is also the leading one of the duo, tugging Izumi along for the ride, but keeping her well being in mind when doing anything, afterall Izumi is a walking natural disaster being able to whip up a tsunami should she be pressured way too much and lose it...
Mai is a witch, a being of high magical power gained through a number of misdeeds, though good at heart and kind to make up for the bad she done, she possesses an extended life that may match her friend Izumi and is entwined with spirits in a way she is a half spirit, able to reform as well though taking more time to do so.
