Naga. Passionate, creative, sensitive. Predatory, though open to letting certain prey survive. Often shy, but vibrant once opened up. Seductive, intelligent. Strong.

Joachim derives no great pleasure from devouring his prey, but neither does he lament the process—it is life, and he lives it to its fullest. This can make him seem inconsistent and incomprehensibly callous to an observer, who might witness him make passionate love to a beautiful woman, only to devour her life and whole moments later, with no sudden shift of affect between.

The wanton callousness and fluidity of his relationships with humans is easiest to compare with that of a human psychopath, but Joachim is not—the jejune disregard and ennui with which he devours his dearest “friends” is merely a reflection of what he is: a snake. That he enjoys the company and attention of people makes them no less his food, and if they aren’t aware of that, they’re terribly foolish for accompanying him.

He is capable of sustained relationships with human lovers, sometimes lasting years, but eventually, he grows bored, consumes his mate, and goes about his life unaffected.

His interest in other naga is minimal, at best. They see him as something of a libertine for his sexual liaisons with humans; he sees them as too poltroon and prudish to play with their food as he does.

Joachim is young by the standards of the immortal serpents, at only one hundred ninety-seven years old. In spite of his age, he remains naïve to the human world, having spent most of his life in the rainforest. He yearns to experience the outside world, and its omnifarious sentient cuisine, but until he finds a guide, he is quite content to live out his immortal days in the peace and serenity of the rainforest, devouring humans at his leisure, and basking his great tail in the sun as they digest.
