Kaede, a hardworking and dedicated maiden at a nearby shrine. She cleans, welcomes worshipers, and brews tea among other things. Unfortunately for Kaede she’s been at the center of speculation for a few mysterious disappearances. This is because she isn’t any ordinary shrine maiden, she’s a kitsune, and a very peculiar one at that. Once a normal girl, Kaede was possessed by a powerful and mischievous spirit, giving her the form she has today. Mismatched with the rest of her hair, she bears black ears and nine massive black white-tipped tails. For the most part Kaede is in control of herself, though occasionally her tails tend to have a mind of their own, trapping victims and consuming any soul foolish enough to meet her fur. On rare occasions, the spirit can even take over her entire body, using her to pursue whatever evil and mischievous deeds it desires. Because of this, Kaede lives in a dilemma. She loves to care for those who visit her shrines and adores many of the people she meets, but she can’t let herself get too close, fearful of what her spirit might do if they are ever alone. Whenever someone does go missing, Kaede has knack for not getting caught from her spirit's schemes, leaving town for a new shrine before anyone is the wiser...
