History: The history of Kai's race is a cruel one... One held down by stigma and rumor that still occurs throught the legends often told of his once proud race. No one truly knows how the Kitsune came to be. Some say they were the result of Foxkin dabbling in arcane secrets they shouldn't have touched. Some say they were spirits, born in the creation of the world who were meant to protect and balance it with their power. Some, much to the displeasure of the remaining remenants of their species, said they were born of demons, tricksters and devourers of souls who sought to grow strong, to become powerful at the cost of innocent lives. Even the remaining Kitsune don't know their true orgins. Whatever remained of that knowedge was wiped out along with their kind. The magical foxes, born with many tails and access to magical power far beyond that obtainable through regular means, were once a kind and serene race, choosing to live in the serene isolation of nature. They prefered to stay out of the affairs of what they considered the outside world, until the outside world decided to come to them... No one knows what happened that caused the purging of their kind. Some say the whisperings of their orgins as demons caused panic amongst the kingdoms. Some say that those very kingdoms sought to use them, use the chaos to hide them away and use them of weapons of war. Whatever the cause, the very few that escaped the witch hunts and assaults had to go into hiding, for fear of being killed. They laid hidden away, slowly becoming nothing more than legends in the eyes of the world...

About: Kai was born many years after the purges of the past, his parents living in secrecy and isolation within one of the many great forests of the reigon. At a young age, the kit grew with a natural curiosity of the world, wanting one day to leave his forest home despite the warnings of his parents. He would sneak away from his family's eye to the edges of the forest, gazing longingly from the trees at the world around him. As the years moved on, so did his boldness, and before he knew it, he made what he considered to be his biggest mistake. Leaving the forest... While he tried tried to hide his identity and what he was, someone managed to find out. One day... It all just came crumbling down. An army had arrived, tearing throught the forest as they quickly moved in to eradicate the supposed "demons" hiding away in the forest. The kit could only watch as his parents hid him away, hearing their cries as they fought to protect their child, but soon fell, the sounds of magic and blazing fire echoing around him...

When he finally left, the serene, beautiful forest he once knew was left a smouldering wreck, a blackened scar that only served to hold the memories of the massacre that occered there. Horrified and in tears, the kit mourned his lost parents, then quickly ran, heading deeper into the forest...

Nowadays the Kitsune remains aware of the outside world, his view of it growing considerably darker since that day. Though his curiosities remained, he chose to never leave the forest again, seeing everyone as nothing more than another outsider willing to exploit or hurt him. He quickly developed his facade, not wanting to darken along with the world around him as he carried on. While he might still live on trying to be a good person, his prejudices still remain along with the burdens that could his heart. For all he knows, the next day could be the one where he finally turns on the world that destroyed his family...

Powers: Kitsune are foxes born with two unique qualities, the nine tails that most associate with them, and access to magical power beyond the talents of most mages. They are walking wellsprings of magical power, however, that leads to the issue of control. With all that power, one little slip could result in cataclysmic disaster, both for the kitsune, and for anyone and anything around it. Because of this, when a kitsune is born, they are given a limiter, an arcane tattoo that serves as an regulator of their powers. With it, a kitsune can't access their full potential, but doesn't run the risk of incenerating everything across the country. Kai, as such has one of these limiters, but due to time it has grown... Faulty. Extreme surges of power, intense emotion, and intense trauma run the risk of his limiter shutting off temporarily, though that could easily be long enough for his magic to run amok. And if that happens... Well...

Foxfire: A key form of magic known across all kitsune, Kai has innate control over fire, able to summon shining blue flames at will. Whether it be waves of flame meant for incinerating others to wisps of fire to light the way and scout around, the kitsune has a verity of uses for these flames, the shining blue fire seeming to have a unique connection to him... An almost close bond to him that allows him to feel where they are at all times. Because of it, the flames can serve as effective sentries.

Illusions: One of the many reasons his kind have been branded as tricksters, Kai has access to extreemly vivid illusions, able to fool all of a person's senses. This could include things such as "multiplying" items, making people invisible to others, creating things that arent there, creating false noises, and all sorts of other little tricks meant to fool and decieve others.

Souls: What many consider to be the source of a kitsune's powers, Kai's soul is... More bolsterous than that of a normal fox. It holds an incredible amount of vitality and purity within, even if he isn't the purest kitsune around. This has resulted in his flames having an almost cleansing property towards the corrupted and the twisted. On top of that, he has ways of strengthening it even more... However, it is an extreme taboo amongst his kind...

Soul Consumption: Kitsune, with their control over their souls, have the ability to steal and devour the souls of other living beings in order to increase their own power. It leaves their bodies as empty husks, unable to feel or react to anything while still living on, aging and growing as normal. With their soul, the victim's consiousness and senses are torn away with it, meaning they are aware the entire time. While it isn't exactly known how much they can feel as they're absorbed, or if they can even survive the process, it seems likely that its a horrible fate, a key reason why most kitsune frown upon it. While Kai shares this point of view, there is always a chance that he may resort to this in a time of dire need... Or when he finally stops caring...
