To the various demons of hell, there is one that just seems to get under everyone's skin. Of course, it's a noble, but not just a noble... She's much more than that, and any of them will assure you this. However, it's not because she's terrible, wicked, or vicious... It's because she's simply.... odd! Odd? Of course, Odd! What other kind of demon chooses their name because she heard a vampire saying it while kissing, and thought it was cute? "Kappuchu", she says! And what other kind of demon chooses to needlessly pamper themselves with jewelry...? Well, there are many, but that's because it symbolizes wealth, and power! She wears it because it looks "Pretty!" For all her flaws, and the many distasteful views of the other inhabitants of the lower hells, and even the disapproval of her would-be peers, Kappuchu does have a way of keeping her place in society. You see, though she does possess the many, albeit assigned by lore, qualities of devils, she still possesses many of their strengths and powers. Her lithe figure is a powerhouse of magical energies, even if not the most muscular, and her repetoire of spells is nothing short of miraculous. One could say that the only reason the lesser devils and even her superiors put up with her is because they can't afford not to. Sure, she could be put down, but then, she'd cause one hell of a problem, no pun intended, in one of her tantrums, in damages to anything or anyone who got in her way while she stormed down the road. What? You thought she was all refined and filled with pride and dignity? Well, yeah, she can be. After all, she's a devil, among the few who were cast out of the heavens so long ago. She's not just some harlequin or demon. But, she can also be quite the spoiled brat. She's used to getting what she wants, and can sometimes, or rather often, be very childish about it when she does not happen to get her way. This is how it has been since... well, forever. Of course, she does have a good side, and it's very easy to get along with her. Trinkets that no other would care for are readily accepted by her, and even if they are gaudy, she'll take them with a smile and respond with a pat. It kind of makes you think: It's not about the quality, but the fact that she gets the respect... or the toy... Who knows, but it does leave the question unanswered. Is she a brat or is she really a devil's... well, Devil? While her personality leaves some rather enigmatic questions unanswered, she's still very powerful. Similar in how she abuses her position, however, she does so with her powers. She plays tricks on demons, disappears for long periods of time only to have, to the disdain of other elders, caused some huuuuuuuuuuge problem on the mortal surface, and generally is... well, promiscuous. Eventually, the Elders spoke. Enough was enough, and they devised a brilliant plan. One of them passed by Kappuchu, and approached another, intentionally making sure that she overheard the two speak of Hyozanryu, the mythical dragoness that created the rare, exquisite gems called "Adamantite". They spoke of how they were the most brilliant gems ever laid eyes on... and they spoke of all the exotic foods and people up there... It was surely a place that anyone in the hells would want to be, of course... And it failed. Kappuchu just brushed the discussion off, as if it didn't concern her, at all. This frustrated the Elders, of course, and they had no choice but to continue on, until they could find out another way of simply getting rid of her. That is, until she simply left. Noone saw her leave, or heard her talk about it, but on whim, she simply left the lower hells, and walked the earth. She didn't just stay vanished, however. They soon found her, settled into a large, plush abode, off deep in some forested areas. The home was brilliantly decorated with fine gems, lovely fabrics, and a few portraits, though mostly of Kappuchu, herself. By obligation, the Elders dispatched a messenger, urging her to return to the lower hells, but, as she always did on her little excursions, she refused, quite plainly. This was all good and fine, and the Elders both celebrated and sighed, knowing she was gone but would likely be back sometime soon, with a large mess left for them to clean up.... ...But that never happened. She's lived on the surface for centuries, now, regularly interacting with the inhabitants of the mortal plane, though seeming to hold some discretion to her nature. This doesn't stop her from showing her tail or wings off, or summoning magicks in public, but it does mean that she doesn't exactly set out to do so, either. She's also gained quite the fondness of shrinking and shape-shifting magicks, it seems. Many humans, in particular, have been seen entering her home, and not coming out again. This brings a mixed sense of foreboding and explanation, however, as many have been charmed, and live in the small mansion, away from civilization, while others have shown up occasionally in the hells, or on rare occasions, the heavens. Others simply vanish. What could she be doing up there...?  |
