He stands at a not-so-impressive 5'6", and weighs in at a mere 135 lbs. A kind smile plays across his lips, azure eyes holding a conflicting light of both naivety and painful experience. Who is this young man?

Karl's a bit of a jack-of-all trades. Originally an orphan from the magical world of Trinar, the young boy made a living with pilfering what food and funds he could whilst living on the streets. But one day, all that changed.


PAST
Orphans are rarely missed- and so, the wise and benevolent king of the peaceful world, fearing his lands and people would grow stagnant, wither, and die without need for change, had a few of such orphans kidnapped in an attempt to "perfect" the human race. Several magical experiments were done... Karl was one of them. Different street rats were subjected to different tests, and ended up with different abilities.

To make a long story short... there was an accident dealing with one of the other experiments... and in the chaos, Karl escaped.

On his own once again, the young man used the "gift" bestowed upon him- an uncanny ability to simply not die completely- to his advantage as a mercenary, as a body guard, an assassin, or any other dangerous task. He could do such things with reckless abandon, as he does not have to fear death. However... he made many enemies, and though he could not be killed, there were several occasions when such enemies would use his friends to get to him.


PRESENT
And so... he fled. He fled to another world- this world, where no one knows him. He still takes the occasional job as a mercenary, but his fighting and magical skills have grown a bit rusty. Now nineteen, he relies on the skills that he used as an orphan- picking pockets, stealing lunches... that sort of thing.

It can be said that he has a warped sense of morals due to his upbringing (or lack thereof), but he does stand by his convictions. He will not harm someone without cause. When he steals, he prefers stealth to threats, and does not "mug" his victims. Now, being paid to take someone out... that's different. After all, the target had to have done something to get someone that sore at him, and such marks had often been crime bosses in the past.

Still a teen, Karl is quick to fall in love... but don't think the violent mistress so many in these parts adore will win his heart. His experiences have taught him that such cruel minds are not to grow attached to.

His Secret
The source of Karl's "undying"... his most protected asset... is a single rose he oft carries with him. Within this rose is encased his very soul. It is an amazing gift, to be brought back to perfect health, regardless of how damaged his body is. Because of that rose, the young man has not been sick since the experiment had trapped his soul into the beautiful flower, and he even looks a few years younger than he is.

Of course, any such benefit has its costs. Karl lives under a constant state of paranoia if he does not know precisely where that rose is. He MUST sleep near it, and if he lives it in even the most secure location, he may be constantly worrying about its safety. You see, anyone who possesses his rose can command him... to do anything they desire. This, along with the immortality the rose grants, has caused him many painful encounters with those few that know of its existence. He has been tortured to death, and once he regained life, was tortured all over again.

Such paranoia has led Sethers to enchant the rose several times over to protect it. By now... there are very few ways to destroy it, one being by his own free will.
