Khain Adams has been a devout member of the church for as long as he can remember; he was taken in by the church at a young age, raised by them his entire life, and until he was a teenager, never questioned a single word any of his religious peers told him. Angels good, demons bad. Pretty straightforward stuff; they even taught him how to defend himself against these "horrifying" creatures, these "feared" beasts, showing him how to use holy magic and what spells were the most useful against unholy ilk. Even when they taught him everything they knew, he delved deeper; he asked the oldest demon hunters in the church to teach him, to train him, and they bestowed on him their old, nearly forgotten techniques.

Upon proving himself as a capable fighter and defender against heretics and demons, Khain was given the important task of bodyguarding one Cici DeBeaux, son of the High Priest. Of course, Khain took to his task with ferver and vigilance.. but.. Cici didn't really seem interested in having his body guarded. In fact, Cici kept ditching Khain every time they went out on missions to purge demons and heretics.

It would be months before he finally caught Cici in the act, but when he did, he saw it firsthand; the son of the High Priest, Cici DeBeaux, making friends with demons. Laughing with them, talking to them.. even.. touching them..! And so brazenly, so laviciously..! Why, Khain could hardly believe his eyes. He implored Cici leave, so he could purge the demons and undo whatever magic they had done to the DeBeaux boy.. but Cici told him, they had not touched him with any of their foul magic. Nay, they had not even coerced him to sit with them. He did it of his own accord, and he was fine.

Khain reeled and wondered; were these not the same, horrifying abominations the church warned him about? The "beasts" they told him, not only to disgust and abhor, but to fear? Yet they sat among humans, with soft and silken skin and pretty round faces, gnashing no teeth, devouring no flesh.

But he knew "better" than to believe these creatures were truly "friendly". No, perhaps Cici truly had nothing to fear from these monsters, but they had still persuaded him with their forked tongues and unholy bodies to debase himself. While Khain would not deny Cici his free will, or even tattle on the young man-- after all, what place did Khain have to come between the High Priest and his only son?-- he would still set straight these horrible demons, who dared to sit with humans and covort in the human realm.

And so it was, unlike Cici (and then, later, the second bodyguard to join them, Abil), Khain did not trust or belove the demons and their ilk. But neither did he fear them as disgusting abominations. Instead, Khain.. sees these denizens of Hell, heretics and monsters, and deems them a lower breed. Perhaps because he, like Cici, was born in their secluded church town and became sexually repressed.. but rather than flirting and fucking demons and monsters as friends, Khain prefers to dominate and humiliate the creatures, debasing them and using them for his pleasure, more like the lesser abominations that they are. To "put them in their place", as it were; never realizing that, in some cases, he was not only giving these tawdry creatures exactly what they wanted, but sometimes doing even worse than they had.


TLDR; A devout member of the church who, rather than fearing demons and heretics, sees them as "beneath" him and likes to "put them in their place". Usually sexually. He acts as Cici's bodyguard alongside his partner, Abil.
