Krystal-Lynn Schumacher is a rare sight. She is a member on one of the most reclusive and rarest of all the Naga species. Being a tail-mouthed naga, she is already among lesser known species; but the least known of all are the glass nagas. The reason why glass nagas are thought to be so rare, and why we know so little about them is due mostly to a unique adaptation of their's. All of a glass naga's soft tissue which includes skin, flesh and organs are completely transparent, leaving their bone structure clearly visible. When seen from a distance and laying still on the ground, a glass naga looks simply like the skeletal remains of nearly any other dead naga. To better aid there camoflage, glass nagas lack hair of any kind. Also, unlike other reptiles, glass nagas have evolved to lack scales, their belly flaps being the only scales remaining on the species as it is their means of locomotion. While not transparant, these belly flaps are quite translucent, giving them the appearace of frosted lead-crystal. As all of a glass naga's soft tissue is transparent, it was unnecessary for these creatures to open their eyelids, and over the generations, the eyelids have indeed become fused to better protect the creatures' eyes. As with all tailmouth nagas, the glass tailmouth has an independant brain at both ends, capable of communication with each other. The snake's head at the back end doing most of the consumption of larger prey, and lacking sensory organs other than thermal pits and a tongue, roughly 36 inches in length.
In terms of hunting, glass nagas tend to stick to two major tactics. The first is as an ambush, lying in wait on the ground in a "death sprawl" awaiting any animal that may be curious enough to investigate the seeming skeleton. Once close enough, the glass naga strikes and constricts their prey. Because they lack the tough armor like the scales of other nagas, glass nagas prefer to catch their prey unaware in this manner to minimize injury. The other preferred method of hunting is to stalk their prey, ready to fall into a death sprawl at a moments notice to avoid being detected as a possible threat and seeming to be just like any other corpse. This method of stalking has greater risk of injury, but also has greater success when prey is scarce.
Having transparent soft tissue also has with it drawbacks. A glass naga's eyelids are fused and therefore shut at all times; but since the creature can easily see through it's own eyelids, they are useless for shutting out bright lights or when trying to sleep. This forces the glass nagas to live near deep caves or to dig underground burrows so they can actually sleep. The lack of scales leaves their sensitive skin exposed and so they must take great care to keep their skin from injury or drying out, as such blemishes would quickly betray the naga's presence and ruin it's ruse as a skeleton. Also, because their flesh is transparent, it becomes obvious when they have recently eaten and tend to seek someplace to hide while in this sluggish state. Again, the glass naga tends to seek the shelter of caves or subterranean lairs.
In the case of Krystal-Lynn, she's a little shy, knowing that her appearance can be somewhat discomforting to others. Cassiopeia, the toothless snake's head at her other end, tends to be the more bold of the two psyches. Cassiopeia is content to play second fiddle most of the time but will ruthlessly defend both herself and the much more timid Krystal-Lynn. Krystal on the other hand is much more interested in not having everyone scream at the sight of her or treat her like some kind of monster. However, when it comes to the matter of food, even Krystal-Lynn is a bit of a pragmatist. Any and every living thing smaller than herself is a potential meal. And at a length of over thirty feet, they need to eat quite a lot. Krystal tends to avoid getting close emotionally while Cassiopeia, or Cass as she is occasionally called, looks at things solely in terms of threat and edibility. Oddly enough, Krystal seems to have aquired an unusual fondness for marshmallows, a developement which Cassiopeia detests as being frivolous and unhealthy.
