Kystah is a halfelf, neither completely human, nor completely elf, and with that, the troubles started even before she was born. See, back in the old days, humans were in war with the elfs, dwards and other 'fantasy' creatures, claiming that this world was now theirs, it was almost to millenia ago when all those events took place, why doesn't anybody remember them? Well, winner writes history, right, as a matter of fact the romans hand't been fighting german tribes in those days, they were fighting against Kystah's mother's people, a tribe of elfs living in the woods near the limes wall and so they were constantly batteling against the human invaders who tried to claim new territory for their own race. With the wall being constructed a dangerous peaces started to take place for about a century and in that time, some adventerous humans made it over the wall to trade with the elfs, see, the old races were well known for their amazing craftmanship since they had an enterity to perfect their skills and even during the times of war the demand for those goods was high among the wealthy people of the Empire.
One of those merchants had a close relationship with the tribe where Kystah's mother lived in, in fact he was in love with their spokeswoman and she kind of liked him although she would never admit that among her people, humans were smelly and dumb, and of course, they had slaughtered countless elfs what in their eyes did count hundred times more than the humans that died in great numbers that were almost four times as large as those of the immortal elf's. The dwarfs had long ago retreated into the mountains and rumors say, that even in our days they're still down there, somewhere, waiting and preparing for the final battle, the orcs had moved into the east, into the great plains where they could live in co-existance with the small number of humans around there. Rumors say that they even mixed with them and integrated into the human society over the years.
The elfs though had their holy places, their sacred woods all over europe, and they didn't give away an inch willingly to those apes that climbed out of the trees. So the relationship between Kystah's mother and the merchant was very, very difficult but eventually they started to meet in the nights, outside from the camp and everything seemed to go well until she noticed that she was pregnant. Knowing that her people would know what she'd done, she left her tribe and the merchant to go and join another tribe of elfs where she claimed that her family had been murdered and her tribe vanquished by the Empire, not knowing that this was true, the merchant had used all his relations to get the army move into Kystah's mother's settlement cause he suspected them to hide her from him not knowing that she'd been pregnant.
After several months, she gave birth to her daughter, of course everyone noticed that her ears were not quite as pointy as they were supposed to be and that her figure in general was a little bit too chubby compared to other elfen babies and sobbing her mother tried to explain that she'd been raped, not knowing that this was the last drop for the elfs to start preparing for a war again. So Kystah grew up among other elfs as an outsider, it seemed she didn't have a talent for magic, but she showed great skills in fighting and hunting as well as in nature in general. Something that got her in trouble more than once though was the sheer fact that she was half human for the sake of others being curious about her taste.
Her taste? Yes, see, as a matter of fact, elfs used to devour humans and other beings whole and alive, some of them prefered to shrink them down first, but almost all of them did and after finding out that Kystah's taste was even better than the taste of a human or an elf, she more than once found herself worming around in someone's belly even if her mother did her best to protect her daughter. Of course she had a spell put on her like everyone of her race that'd prevent her from dying if it wasn't in battle or from old age, Kystah never really understood why this didn't work for battles, they would've been unstoppable. When Kystah was a teenager though, the war had started again and it didn't go well for the elfs, they lost one battle after another to the sheer number of humans and soon they had to leave their safe woods.
For Kystah this was a chance to start a live on her own, she always felt that she wasn't really part of the elven society and she wanted to see if humans were really as bad as they looked like. Being able to hide her ears with a headscarf she still was a pretty outstanding figure among the humans, with her red hair and tall figure and her face that seemed to be too perfect for a human, but nobody suspected her of being an elf until they came to see her ears that were, not as pointy as most elf's but pointy enough to make her anything but human. She couldn't quite settle with living with any of them, people were either afraid of her for she could put a spell on them, or she could eat them, both or worse, she could curse their families. This most of the times lead into people starting to hate her and make her responsible for every misfortune coming to them and while the elfs started to get vanquished, only few of them fleing into unknown regions, she settled down in the woods, built herself a small hut where she lived from that day on.
There was a human village nearby but she rarely did go there to have something repaired that she couldn't repair herself or to trade herbs and other things that she gathered in the woods, alltogether she started to like her life quite a lot. Of course she moved out of her woods every once in a while to see how the humans were doing, but after some sort of revolution in terms of religion, she thought the humans had gone completetly nuts and if they would continue that way, they'd climb back on their trees in a few years she thought, that this was the legacy of some of the orc tribes that had mixed up with humans who were now devastating the western world, she didn't know. As the years passed by and turned into centuries Kystah started to develope her own kind of magic, she could feel the presence of living beings around her, she was able to heal wounds, from small cuts to a broken neck, anything seemed to be possible as long as she was strong enough for it. She almost entirely cut down eating humans as in her understanding they were just creatures of the world themselves, not different from her and sure you might call her a hippie in these days but when humans started to invent things that polluted the environment argueing that earth was theirs she found her predatory nature again, not that she was starting to feast on humans in a feeding frenzy but whoever got into her woods was not safe to come out again.
Eventually she accepted that this couldn't change anything and after returning from and extended journey she settled more peacefully again, starting to trade with the nearby village again. These days she finds herself more than once, sneaking into the city that the village had grown to, fascinated by what humans had become and impressed by technologies that she tries to understand and she even got herself some of them, not having any problems with money since she owned most of the ground for centuries over various companies, but she doesn't make a big thing out of it, it just gives her the feeling of being in control although she doesn't dare to reveal herself to the public. Of course she had several relationships over the years but due to herself being practiacally immortal as it seems and the human's limited age she never quite got into something serious for her, she didn't have kids either although she wasn't a virigin. So what is she doing? Looking for fun and entertainment, trying to find out where things are going.
