Kaitlyn is at
Permavore_Risk and is competing in the Noble Games hosted by the land's
Nobility!
Even a proud noble house with a long history can slide into obscurity and ruin. Thus is it was with House Trefoil, once a strong power in the kingdom and now only a shadow of it's former glory.
The city of Glorian grew rich via the silver mines in the surrounding hills, coming to economically dominate the rest of the kingdom despite the province's small size. House Trefoil, the noble line in charge of the Barony, grew in wealth and power. For generations, they were one of the most influential forces in the kingdom. It is said that there were times that the Trefoils had more power in the land then even the royal line! But such power and influence was not to last. Eventually, the silver veins began to run dry. As wealth left the city, the influence and power that House Trefoil did as well. Now, Glorian is little more then a pale shadow of what it once was and House Trefoil is counted among the minor houses of the land, despite controlling a major city. But both Glorian and House Trefoil remember days gone by. And the Trefoils, at least, long for what has been lost. The tax revenue from Glorian is diminishing, funds are drying up, and what little power base the family has managed to hold on to is slowly seeping away.
But these problems have never been ones that young Kaitlyn Trefoil has ever had to worry about. She is sixth in line for the Baronial seat, behind three sisters and two brothers. As few other noble lines are seeking alliance with House Trefoil, Kaitlyn isn't even valuable as a potential political marriage candidate. However, she still has a duty to perform to her House as a member of the
Nobility and as such has been commanded by the Baroness to compete in the Noble Games in order to win wealth and prestige for House Trefoil... or die trying.
It is a heavy weight upon young Kaitlyn's slender shoulders. She is by no means an athlete nor a very physical person at all! Her life has been one of ceremony and circumstance, hosting tea parties and learning the piano. She is ill equipped and very much afraid for her life.
But still, Kaitlyn intends to compete. The Baroness has commanded her... and she intends to obey. For her House needs her and, even more importantly, the suffering people of Glorian need her as well. If money could be invested into the city, then perhaps it could be revitalized in new industry. Kaitlyn may be afraid, but her fear is tempered with the twin hammers of duty and compassion. Kaitlyn is a quiet girl and there are some that describe her as timid. While it is true that she is demure, her verbal recalcitrance is because she is the sort of person that does not speak unless she feels that she has something important to say. Kaitlyn does not know if she will survive the Noble Games... but she does know that if she does, she can benefit her people. For that hope alone, she is willing to try rather then flee.
