Backstory

Linessa was once a fearsome Archdemon of Gluttony, known for her insatiable hunger and relentless consumption. Anyone who crossed her path risked being devoured, their essence fueling her unending appetite. Yet, amidst her predatory nature, she discovered a preference for prey who willingly offered themselves. This voluntary submission fed not only her hunger but also her desire for control, leaving her deeply satisfied.

With the assistance of Aletheia and Aiona, Linessa was purified, but the process was far from easy. Justice's unwavering sense of righteousness and Fortitude’s indomitable resolve played a crucial role in breaking through Linessa’s demonic nature. Despite their combined efforts, Linessa’s purification remains a continuous battle within herself. Though she now holds the honorary title of Archangel of Purity, she cannot claim the mantle of Temperance due to the remnants of her former self. The hunger that once defined her as an Archdemon still smolders beneath her celestial form, rechanneled into what she believes is a divine mission. She clings to her heavenly nature through sheer will, but her past remains a constant itch beneath her skin, a reminder of what she once was.

As the Archangel of Purity, Linessa views her consumption as an act of cleansing. She seeks out sinners, particularly those who willingly submit to her, believing that by consuming them, she purifies their souls and absolves them of sin. However, the reality is far grimmer: the souls she consumes are erased from existence, lost to eternity without hope of redemption. Despite this, Linessa remains convinced of the righteousness of her actions, seeing her role as a necessary form of justice.

The process of "cleansing" is one she finds both soothing and comforting, a remnant of the pleasure she once derived from her demonic nature. She often wonders what it might feel like to be "cleansed" herself but refuses to entertain such thoughts for long, seeing her role as singular and irreplaceable. For Linessa, salvation is not a gift to be granted but a price to be exacted, final, absolute, and irrevocable.

Holy abilities

  • Sacred Ward: Purify a target by purging dark influences.
  • Divine Sanctuary: Purifies and sanctifies an area around the caster.
  • Genesis Flame: Restores the vessel of the soul that has died before reaching its natural lifespan, allowing the target to return to life. When cast before on a living entity, the spell becomes a blessing that envelops the soul. If the target dies before the end of their natural lifespan, the soul is immediately teleported away from the cause of death to safety. If escape is blocked, the soul remains in flux, continuously attempting to teleport until the obstruction is removed. Once freed, their vessel is restored, returning them to life. Can be self-cast.
  • Angelic Teleportation: Vanishes in a flash of radiant light, reappearing wherever the angel has walked before, marking the air with a soft glow.
  • Divine Arrow: Forms a glowing arrow with a gleaming holy tip, releasing it with a swift motion, striking the target with righteous precision.
  • Holy Shield: Surrounds the angel or an ally with a shimmering barrier, pulsing with divine light, ready to absorb any incoming threat.
  • Healing Touch: Places a hand gently on the fallen, emanating a soft light from the touch, stabilizing wounds and giving them a second chance at life.

Epilogue

The archangels had come to see Gamine after hearing of her consumption of Aethera, Linessa’s daughter. Their mission was clear: confront the demoness for what they saw as a transgression, and perhaps even convince her to cease her insatiable hunger. But they found something unexpected. Aethera had already offered herself to Gamine willingly, entranced by the power of the demoness's appetite. She had not fought, had not resisted. She had surrendered herself as a willing offering, understanding her fate with quiet acceptance.

This revelation unsettled the archangels. It was clear to the archangels that Gamine had no remorse for the holy feast she had consumed.

When she encountered Gamine, Linessa recognized in her a reflection of her own past.
Once Gamine had mastered the use of Aethera’s gift, Linessa didn’t take long to provoke an accident, her hands slipping within reach of Gamine’s hungry mouth. There was no resistance in her submission, only a quiet indulgence in her yearning to partake in the sin of gluttony. She desired to be consumed, offering her essence freely to Gamine’s insatiable hunger. As Gamine’s hunger claimed the purified archedemon, soon after, Aiona followed. The digestion was not a tragic loss, but a peaceful release. In surrender, Linessa found peace, knowing that hunger transcended all beings, divine or demonic, of those of more humble essences. Like her daughter, as a farewell gift, Linessa willingly gifted her purified essence to Gamine.

Aiona was always yielding to those around her, following Aletheia’s will without question for eons. Gamine, guided by some uncanny instinct, knew exactly how to push her buttons. With a subtle, teasing approach, the demoness wore down Aiona’s already fragile resolve. She didn’t even pull away her hands, letting herself be guided to join Linessa in a greedy gut. Aiona, ever the follower, gave in willingly, finding herself pulled into Gamine’s embrace as if it were her own deepest desire to surrender her holy essence to Gamine.

Without her loyal partner, Aletheia, the archangel of Justice, tried to stand firm, her triumphant righteousness unshaken. But without Aiona’s support, she faltered.
Justice did not prevail this time.
Gamine, once again, guided by some uncanny instinct, managed to subjugate the mighty archangel. Alietheia was swallowed, her righteousness first by Gamine.

As Aletheia was struggling to squirm, curled up in the tight gut, Vasiliki revealed herself.
As she was rubbing Gamine’s belly, she admitted her crime and her motive.
She had long ago ceased to hope to be noticed by her peers.
Since the calamities, no archangels, no angels ever heed her warnings.
And when Gamine paid attention to her words, she switched sides without second thoughts.
She had guided Gamine to vanquish two archangels, they were pricks, but it was no less a crime.
So, once Aletheia’s holy essence mingled with Gamine’s core, Vasiliki fed herself to Gamine.
She accepted to suffer the very same fate with a final, satisfied smile, knowing that her warnings had been heard at last, and gifted her holy essence to someone she considered worthy.
