Humans have always sought to be more powerful than they are – whether this is a link between demons and humans or a similarity born of the influence of demon kind over humanity is a question for philosophy and theorizing, but there can be no denying the events of the past.
Magic was always a gift which provided power to those who would have otherwise been powerless, bestowed upon others by creatures called Gods. Extremely rare and catastrophically powerful, they take little to no interest in the affairs of others and yet send their “essence” leaking into the realms of angels, demons and humans. Each “essence” is the same, but is heavily influenced by traditions and desires strongest in those realms – thus the face of magic is defined by those who use it, not by those who create it.
With human desire based primarily around self-gain and self-preservation it was inevitable that healing magic and protection would come about, but hatred would also see destruction magic born – and it would be this magic, above all else, that would become universal. Many were those that carried seeds of love and devotion within them, but everybody could claim to have at least some hatred festering inside of them. It was this that drove mages to become stronger, in pursuit of their own agendas and far too often at the expense of everybody around them. Despite this, such power was still not enough – and it was in the seemingly unlimited desire of most humans that the demons saw an opportunity.
Naturally powerful in the art of magic and each born to a specific aspect (Lust, Envy, Greed etc.), demons would travel between their world and the human world and confront one who echoed themselves – a Demon of Lust would seek out a lustful mage, for example – and they would apprentice them, guiding them in the ways of their darker magic and only after a time, when it was clear that they were worthy of their attention would they begin to imbue truly powerful magic upon their apprentices – namely, the ability to devour others in a number of ways. In doing this the demons had discovered that they could permanently absorb the magical power of those they consumed, and when this discovery was made by humanity it swept across the world like a plague. Those without the gift of magic quickly grew paranoid and distrustful of even the kindest of mages and would attempt to kill any and all they came across, an effort that would often push a genuinely good mage into seeking such power to assure her survival.
Liz and her friends were such mages, found as weaklings by a Demon Princess of Lust. The power and security she promised were enough to entice all of them into following her will and travelling with her back to the demonic world. Along with her friends Liz learned much from the Demon Princess who dubbed herself Melanie, but of them it was only Liz whom took exception to Melanie’s barbaric methods of slaughtering and torturing those who attempted to raise their swords against them on their trips back to the mortal world. She would swallow some whole, assuring her students that they would melt over the course of days and become part of her, while others she would rip the souls out of and consume that way. It was a little more than four months into their training, when they began to praise their Mistress for her skill with almost envy for the dead that Liz became exceptionally wary of Melanie, refusing to meet for their ‘private lessons’ any longer. Even as she refused to join her friends in devouring the ones who would stand against them she could not deny the desire that was burning in her heart.
Summoning all of them to her chambers one dark night, Melanie confessed that she had not the slightest interest in maintaining their lives for a moment longer – she had raised them to be food for her and nothing more. All but Liz, to the horror of Liz, gratefully accepted this wonderful opportunity and before her eyes Melanie ate them one by one, until her belly was too big for her to move under its weight and she could only lay back and digest her victims, becoming more and more annoyed by Liz’s horrified reactions all the while. She repelled Liz’s efforts to save them with embarrassing ease and bound her with her tail. She considered using it to swallow Liz but ultimately chose not to – the girl before her eyes was absolutely pathetic, she thought, and her life would be better spent as food for another demon or mage – the likes of which she would eventually eat and enjoy far more. Scornfully she used her magic to banish Liz back to the mortal world, instructing her to become lunch for somebody weaker.
Melanie did not realize, but, how strong her sterling student was. Having sent her to a town under attack from voracious mages Liz encountered an old friend named Janet who had resolved to protect this place from the vile mages, having been caught there in her search for another friend. Despite being afraid she had been eaten already she was determined to see her quest through to the end.
Agreeing that her cause was the righteous one Liz joined Janet in her defensive and used her powers of lust to dominate the field, rendering the mage offensive forgotten as instead they dropped to their knees and backsides, unable to keep themselves from masturbating over Liz. Reasoning that by letting them go she would only cause trouble she joined some of the mages that had defended the town in eating the attackers, spreading her magic to them on the condition that they use it only against those who used it malevolently. Some of these mages she ate on the spot, seeing the lust for power burning in their eyes. To Janet she thought of offering one or two of the fallen mages, only to see her caught up in lust and begging Liz to eat her. Temptation gnawed at her mind, urging her to take advantage and eat her, but the better part of Liz prevailed. She knew that if this kept up at this rate humans would rapidly become a thing of the past. She was not about to let the likes of Melanie turn humanity into a steaming pile of shit. Bringing Janet to her senses, she offered her a place by her side, one which Janet accepted, embracing Liz’s magic so that she too could devour those who were a danger to them.
As they journeyed across the land, devouring wicked mages and demons and absorbing their power they caught the gaze of an angel named Larissa. She had also resolved to rescue humanity and see the demonic incursion quelled, even if only because doing so now would mean the angels would take less casualties than if they waited for the full attention demons could give them. Some had already made their way into the angelic realms and Larissa had seen close friends eaten and digested by women like Melanie, who took brutal pleasure in their dying moments. Smelling the Lust Demon’s stench upon Liz and seeing her power at work made Larissa furious and she confronted the pair, using her Holy Magic to sever the ties of Janet’s soul and swallow it. Stunned and furious, Liz was only just able to fight back against her angelic attacker. Larissa took pleasure in her suffering and promised to absolve her of it soon, her tongue running across her lips as she did. Liz’s rage fuelled her power and drove her overboard, bringing the angel to the brink of death as she desperately tried to avenge Janet until at last a Demon of Gluttony appeared, urging Liz to eat Larissa and absorb her holy magic. Liz refused and, surprising both demon and angel turned on the demon, swallowing her instead. She declared that she would not stoop to the level of a demon. She would use their power against them and bring the senseless fighting to a close.
Larissa realized that Liz was telling the truth. With the last of her power she ripped Janet’s soul out of her before she could absorb it completely and returned it to her body, assuring Liz that she would wake soon. For Larissa it was too late – Liz’s wounds would kill her, as none among them knew any healing magic, but her determination to protect those of her race was as strong as ever. As Liz searched for a solution Larissa offered one in the form of “Fusion” – an angelic art, one in which two whom shared an ideal could become one being, a mix of both that would vary depending on who was the superior soul and who was the inferior. Liz accepted the offer; she and Larissa undertook the act with her dying breath and created a new being – one with both the memories of Liz and Larissa. Her appearance would stay almost the same, save for a pair of righteous white wings and a pair of golden eyes as bright as her hair.
After Janet recovered, she and Liz travelled to a strongly fortified town, ruled over by angels. Most mages were treated as secondary citizens, things to be feared, but among those who weren’t Janet and Liz were both delighted to finally encounter their old friend Anne, who had taken shelter in the town to avoid being eaten. She had become a powerful priestess since they had last met and only more so since the angels had taken to teaching her some of their own magic. From her Liz learned that Adramalech, the ruler of the Demon Realm, was in fact trying to restrain the demons he ruled over and pull them back, so that they could rule over the world and not make it a barren wasteland devoid of life. Because of this numerous demons came to see him as weak and laughable. Many had challenged him in the past and more did so now, yet for every one he cut down there was another to stand against him until at last the Demon Princess Melanie herself took her stand, having grown immensely powerful from the angels, humans and even demons that she had eaten. She would not fight to let others eat, but rather to ensure that she could eat all – this was something Liz knew.
Seeing the mages, oppressed and angry by the angels Liz knew that this fragile peace would not last. Learning about the secrets of angelic magic from Anne Liz devised an extreme solution, using Anne’s gifts to bring the human mages of the city in for healing and cleansing, at which time she would also decide how virtuous they were. If they were scum, she would inform Liz and the mage would be eaten. If in fact they were good, however, then Anne would instead use her power to wipe their memories of anything relating to being a mage while Liz, posing as her attendant, would use her demonic arts to literally siphon the magic out of their bodies, an art she would also gift upon Janet and Anne. Although Janet and Liz would freely devour the evil mages whom they came across Anne would not, instead depriving them of their power and leaving them be.
Their journey would slowly take them across the world, until at last the mages of the world were all but a memory, save for a bare few still under Melanie’s control. Melanie had sought them out, she revealed, infuriated by Liz’s meddling. Her efforts were futile, she claimed, because without the gifts humanity had perfected and refined over generations she had all but assured their demise. She would, however, see the trio of women die before her eyes and so she set the fools who followed her upon them, promising her sexual attention upon the ones who could feed Liz to her head-first. Her smile did not waver as she watched them die and fall, but instead grew; with her magic she ripped away their souls and ate them one by one, growing more and more powerful as Liz, Janet and Anne grew weaker and weaker. Angels came, trying to offer their aid against Melanie but it was a simple task for Melanie to rip them apart and even gulp them down, her hungry stomach all but obliterating those who fell into it. Liz was able to keep level ground against her demonic followers, but it was when Melanie herself slaughtered the last zealous mage and swallowed her soul that she came to the battlefield and savagely struck down Liz again and again. She had eaten many, Melanie taunted her, and come much further than she had predicted, but she was still the unworthy apprentice she had always been – and there was no apprentice alive who deserved one of their own. Grabbing Liz with her tail and forcing her to watch, she scooped Janet up and swallowed her whole before her eyes landed upon Anne. Ignoring Liz’s desperate screams and her attempts to strike her down she cruelly forced Anne up her ass and into her stomach with Janet. Listening to the sounds of Liz’s despair and rage for what felt like an eternity as her stomach went to work on the girls inside her she asked what Liz would want to do now. With her friends dead or dying and her own power spent and altogether weaker she conceded to Melanie, whispering that she had been right all along. Echoing her friends from long ago she asked if she could be eaten too.
Melanie smiled. She had expected just such a reaction. Only, she claimed as her heart-shaped tail opened up to accept Liz, she would not digest Liz – not right away. She laughed and claimed that she wanted to let Liz see what had become of her friends and lovers. Without further delay her tail unraveled and captured Liz, greedily gulping her up and penetrating her with its many tongues. She took great satisfaction into turning Liz’s broken sobs into groans of pleasure. It took a great deal of effort, but her stomach opened up to accept Liz – and there she was startled to find Anne and Janet, weakened but alive. Anne had used her angelic shielding to protect them from Melanie’s digestion, but it was a process that wouldn’t last longer. Neither of them wanted to be turned into Melanie’s shit, they had decided, and so they had both chosen to accept the death that was much more satisfying to them – namely, fusing with Liz so that she could defeat Melanie once and for all. Liz tried to refuse, but it was an exercise in futility. Neither Anne nor Janet gave her a choice in the matter as one by one they took her hands, bade their final, loving farewell and permanently fused themselves with her, each fusion filling her body with substantial power. When at last Liz was alone and teary-eyed inside Melanie she summoned the essence of Larissa, Anne, Janet and every single mage or demon she had ever eaten before – along with her own strength – and placed her hands to Melanie’s stomach wall, fire in her eyes as she performed one last fusion – this one with the Demon Princess herself. Melanie was genuinely startled to feel Liz using such angelic magic, but what she perceived to be a surrender soon turned into a brutal battle of wills as what felt like a group assaulted her own conscience and beat it down, attempting to suppress. Melanie’s supreme desire and egotism was enough to threaten even the united front of souls, very nearly absorbing them all in their extended battle of wills, but ultimately the struggle ended when Melanie faltered and Liz pressed her advantage, hammering brutally at her will until with a humiliated, agonized scream the Demon Princess was forced to experience being ‘eaten’ by the woman inside her stomach.
Angels and demons both crept onto the battlefield as Melanie vanished, uncertain of what to do. It was but a moment before Liz reappeared, her angelic wings transformed into a bizarre mix of demon and angelic ones and Melanie’s heart-shaped tail protruding from her back. With an enraged cry Liz obliterated the horrified demons looking on and drove the few survivors back to their own world. She acknowledged the angels looking on, informing them that the battle was over before diving into the realm after the demon survivors to confront Adramalech himself. The Demon Ruler acknowledged the debt he owed her for dealing with Melanie and agreed that his kind would not be allowed in the mortal or angelic worlds for a very long time, given that they had brought humanity to the brink of extinction. She gave Adramalech a gift – a formless, writhing energy, which she promised would makes its meaning clear in due time. Liz then left the world behind and returned to the mortal one. Standing before the angels once more she informed them of Adramalech’s vow and assured them that she had no desire to consume anybody, words that the angels understandably found difficult to believe given Liz’s form. Liz dismissed their concerns, informing them that she was not long for any world. Repudiating the chance to explain further she reached into her body, just as she had done before and ripped out another mass of writhing energy, entrusting it to the woman before her eyes, asking that they treasure her gift. They were greatly confused by her action, she knew, but as she took flight she was grateful to see them keep her gift.
She could still feel Janet and Anne inside of her but it was not the same thing as having them by her side. Their power meant nothing to her now – she wanted them. When the world below was hidden by clouds and the stars seemed as though they were so close she could just reach out and grab them she clenched her eyes shut and bade farewell to everything, shattering her body and filling the sky with rainbow luminance. The souls of everybody Liz had eaten escaped in the course of her life scattered freely across the world, save for two – one of which was drawn to the energy she had given the angels and the other of which was forced into Adramalech’s hands. The former would find comfort and serenity in her restored life, the other torture and misery in hers.
It would not be until centuries later that, as the world rebuilt and magic slowly crept back into society – at a snail’s pace, as if kept secret by divine will – that Liz’s soul would find a new vessel, regenerating herself in the shape of Elizabeth Fitzsimons. She was a normal human, blissfully unaware of her past until the desire of one man drove her into a corner and awoke something deep within her. The bulk of her power remained unstirred, but a small portion of it allowed her to easily consume the man and save herself from his insidious desires. With her newly rediscovered power came the faint memory of people like her – and the knowledge of those who had been precious to her. Deciding after a time that she would use her new found power to protect those like her and guide them as her gut said they should be she used her skills and abilities to found Fitzsimons Inc and scour the world for such people, but it was only after several years – during which Liz discovered that her biological clock had frozen – that she at last found Janet and much later Anne, the latter not as one of her race.
