What is a Luck Fairy?

The Luck fairy, or Fata Fortuna Secunda, is a lot of things. It is statistically the smallest breed of fae, the lightest, one of the few breeds that constantly have blonde hair, and are easily the rarest of the breeds of faefolk, even before they were hunted.

Yes, Hunted.

A blond fae with eyes of green,
lucky beyond what can be seen.
Keep one close and with great mirth,
luck's kiss will give you all it's worth.

This little ditty spelt the downfall of the rare species to the point that most are not even convinced they exist. Living deeply in sylvan forests, most do not even happen upon them. So they remain a 'myth' even to fae kind...even if they do indeed exist. and Lylia is one of them.

Physiology

One would swear the Luck fairies are all sisters of each other. Often times if two luck fairies do happen upon each other and are the same age, they end up acting like sisters. Each girl and boy luck fairy are identical to each other. Same blonde wavy hair, same green eyes, same cute, thin build, same fluttery green clover-shaped wings.

The only things that differ are hair length and size, based on one's age. Though, most luck fairies are quite small and end up staying small, as they are suppose to instill a sense of cuteness and youth toward other fairies so that they will be took care of. Call it a symbiotic relationship, as taking care of a luck fairy does bestow the luck upon them. If it weren't for this symbiotic life, they would die out, though, as a luck fairy has a hard time fending for itself, and also can die of lonliness.

Lylia, in a nutshell

She's definately one of her own kind. Cute blonde hair growing all over the place, Green dress and headband, wings in the shape of a clover. She's certainly a very sweet and cute fairy, having no real fear of humans because she does not know any better either.

Luck fairies, you see, are one of the few species that live in solitude of other faefolk. The parents care for the young ones till they grow large enough to fend for themselves, then they leave them. It is not a harsh or cruel thing, but it is their nature. Luck fairies are -suppose- to find companionship, either with another being who protects and cherishes them, or in a fairy coven where they can bestow their luck upon the lot of them.

The issue there, sadly, is that most covens reject luck fairies now. They are seen as misfortune. Yes, they bring great luck to the coven...but they also bring humans.

So...Lylia is without coven, and has been lucky enough to not be caught by a human who wishes to abuse her powers. More on that later.

If you should happen to find her and show a bit of kindness, you'd find she is...quite an eager and cuddly thing. She would go out of her way to snuggle the person who is caring for her, be they her size or much larger, and there would be no fear at all, no matter what the person does to her.

Abilities

Fortune: All your endeavours will succed. All your bad luck will disappear. You'll find money on the road, you'll earn an inheratance you never even knew about, win contests, pass tests you didn't study for. All these wonderful things, just from the little one being near you and happy.

Of course...you can also make one endeavour completely successful just by being dusted by them, no need to make them happy. Careful, though, often times they will charm you as well, so your luck will run out the moment the dust wears off.

Misfortune Charm

This is the one real defense a Luck fairy has toward someone causing ill will toward them. Luck fairies have a strong charm that, ironically, also causes bad luck in whomever is effected by it. Generally they use it on people trying to hurt them, and those who do harm her find themselves with horrible bad luck. They are always in the wrong place at the wrong time, all their endeavours fail, and they may even be killed by 'accident' because of this misfortune. The worst part is that the charm does not leave...it lingers till the individual makes reparations to the luck fairy who was scorned.
