MalVerlocken

"Your words are weak, now let us see how your actions speak, brigand."

Though he is a proud and somewhat rebellious son of the Verlocken line, few observers would take Mal for a demon. Some might take him for a sword-mage, a slayer, or even a dark and mysterious aristocrat, but not a demon. Very few people, except for his last surviving family members, know if he is actually full-demon or half-demon, but one thing is for sure: Mal Verlocken is the most hedonistic and dangerous man in his family.

Though his past and his family are cloaked in the shadows of obfuscation, Mal is now a lord in his own right. He lives in the Black Keep, in the jagged face of the Ogard Mountains. Very few people visit his domain, except those adventurers who would seek his counsel and it never comes without a price. His castle is a place of tempestuous power where it is said that many nights are plagued by hellfire or torrential storms of lightning. Whether the Gods themselves have been angered by the Demon Prince or these are some type of magical experiments, who knows? Mal is also plagued by wanderlust, so he does not stay in his keep for long. Every season, he travels to new lands...

He is a tall man with long ebon locks and eyes like amethyst shards. Anyone who knows him long comes to witness his demonic side. Black, crystalline claws extend from his fingers and his flesh can turn to obsidian scale, glossed and sleek. Angering or arousing him tends to cause the transformation, but with experience the Verlocken has learned to control it, to an extent. There are also times when he grows draconic wings, but this seems to be something he can do of his own volition. It is also an excruciating process.

Most often, he is seen in a coat with a silk tunic and elegant pants beneath. His coat does not conceal the athletic contours of his body. With broad shoulders and sleek muscles, he is a strong swordsman. He always walks with a blackwood cane topped with an obsidian skull grip, which conceals a poisoned rapier. Other times, when he is going into battle, he carries his favored broadsword, upon which his family sigil of the chromatic dragon is inscribed. If he has any weakness, Mal is a ladies man through and through. His manners and his eloquence distinguish him as an educated man and he has a passion for both prose and verse.

"Long ago, in the dark of the primordial sky, a lance of celestial fury smote with violet fire all the dreams of man in a single terrible thrust, for judgement's sake. After that.... void. And so it was that before we came to be, void was the law and night was our mother. So shall it be once more in the realms. Be not afraid of the dark, remember it as your home, relish its pure wind."

(Mal is a man of masks. He may be the lord of a Black Keep, but your character may never go to that keep. Mal travels the lands, sometimes on nefarious missions, sometimes out of pure wanderlust and boredom, or more often in the search of beautiful women. He could be the evil wizard to your town or maybe a dark hero; like any gem he is multifaceted and his past is a winding snake. Can be played in modern, fantasy, or futuristic scenarios).
