Maledicta

"Hello there. Welcome. Welcome! No, please, enter and make your prayers. I just hope you brought a proper offering~"

Maledicta. She was a nice girl, once. Keeper of a small shrine. She cleaned, gathered the offerings people left to the spirits there, and generally took care of the place.

And then someone did something bad. They altered a few important charms. They left tribute to darker things. They prayed to beings best left alone.

When Maledicta returned from her shopping that day, the thing that had been drawn to her newly corrupted shrine found her. It took her. It consumed her spirit and slipped into her flesh. Whatever her name had been before, whatever her dreams, whatever she meant her life to become, it was all gone. Now there's only Mal, and Mal is not particularly nice.

5'9" in height, the altered shrine maiden still looks mostly human. Her eyes have become a shimmering gold, her skin paler in hue, but most people wouldn't think too much of that. It's only when she smiles that there's a direct sign that things are not as they seem, when all those ever so pointy teeth become visible. Of course, her attire has also changed, black where it was once white, with unholy markings on her gloves. The shrine itself is intact, but it's best not to look too closely at the charms, and the whole place has an ominous air about it. Sometimes the bells chime when there's no breeze to stir them.
