Overview:
Mary is a predator that strikes within her victims dreams, feeding off their fear. Their mental health afflicts their physical state. Dying within one of Mary's dreams will half the victim's real height.
Hunting Style:
Mary can assume whichever form she deems appropriate to stalk her prey, the only physical aspect she cannot change is her eyes though. For this reason she can often be seen wearing wide brimmed hats that shade her eyes as she stalks for suitable prey.
When she sees someone suitable she will sniff out their lifeforce and await their slumber. From there, she reigns supreme. At the drop of a hat within an otherwise good dream, she can strike. You may have just won a trophy for your violin recital but.... why is everyone jeering now? Are they throwing tomatoes? No, those are bottles now. They sound so....angry, so violent, baying for blood and utterly primal. It is then that Mary appears truly. When in dream she appears in her true form (as shown above).
From that point on, the dream and the dreamer become mere playthings for Mary's cruel design. She'll play cat and mouse with her victim before they simply give up and then she'll kill them.
They will, of course, wake up the next day but they will have lost half of their height. They will now be mindful of Mary and likely seek to avoid sleeping at all costs.
Mary can wait. She's millennia old, what are a few more days?
The process repeats again, and again until the person is reduced to an utterly tiny height. It is then that Mary strikes for the first time in the real world. She will kill her victim, however she sees fit. Whatever the end result, their life force will be absorbed and she will be satiated for a while.
The urge to hunt will soon strike again though....
Characteristics
- May use illusions in the waking world if the target fears her enough.
- Her height in the waking world is neutral until her nature is revealed where it is tied to how much she is feared.
- Immortal
- Has a soft spot for kittens, her presence is usually followed by a cat of some sort, black of course.
OoC Notes
Because of the dream nature of this character, I can see her being used more for one on one encounters and probably multi session. She is, ultimately, a god-modder in the dream world. If such interactions bother you, then you're looking at the wrong character ^^
