Ganondorf is the reincarnation of the Demon King Demise, given his eternal hatred towards those who share the blood of the Goddess Hylia and the spirit of the hero. Thousands of years before Zelda's birth, Ganondorf led a band of thieves all across Hyrule, attempting to hold dominion over the Sacred Realm. Their leader is a powerful magician who used his powers to thwart and terrify those who resist him. Yet, even though Ganondorf was reincarnated through the hatred of Demise, he continued to age rapidly as humans originally would, but unable to die this way. He was soon forgotten after losing his strength, believed to be dead. Until he had found his way into the Sacred Realm in hopes to obtain the Triforce.
Upon touching it, the Triforce was split into three segments and have scattered, but only the Triforce of Power stayed in Ganondorf's possession. He turns Hyrule into a kingdom of darkness and established his rule with an iron fist. And he got his power and youth back while holding on to the Triforce of Power. While growing strong again, Ganondorf took control of Hyrule's most dangerous monsters who gave into the darkness, earning himself a new title, the King of Evil. But Ganondorf wasn't satisfied, since he has yet to obtain the two remaining segments of the Triforce so that he will have complete control over Hyrule. He found the Triforce of Wisdom in possession of Zelda and took advantage in capturing her. After doing so, Ganondorf made time to prepare for battle against Link, the holder of the Triforce of Courage. But Link defeated him using the Master Sword.

Hyrule's peace however did not last when Calamity Ganon appears to spread its malice and destruction across the land. In preparation for this, the Sheikah built a massive army of mechanical protectors called Guardians and four massive mobile fortresses known as the Divine Beasts serving as centerpieces of this army, to aid Link and Zelda. But the Guardians and the Divine Beasts fell under the control of Calamity Ganon, turning them against Hyrule and brought the kingdom itself to ruin. During this Great Age of Calamity, Link was wounded in battle, while protecting Zelda. But her divine powers have awakened while protecting him, which will allow Zelda to seal away or destroy Calamity Ganon. She first had Link taken to the Shrine of Resurrection, where he will sleep for over 100 years in order to make a full recovery. Then Zelda confronts Calamity Ganon on her own and seals it deep beneath Hyrule Castle, though this required her to also become its prisoner to maintain the seal. After 100 years passed, Link awoke with his memories lost, but was given an important task, set free the Divine Beasts from the control of Calamity Ganon and save Zelda.
