Mecca

Mecca Lightfoot is one of the most recent members of a bloodline of elves whose use of arcane magic to manipulate the limits of their own biology – and the practices which follow the changing of these physical constraints – has led to their general estrangement with other high elves. This line spans back for millennia, to the original Corpumancer of her lineage, around whom an entire sect of high elves has formed.

Mecca Lightfoot is far along in the line of the Lightfoot name among Corpumantic High Elves, born several thousand years later. She is an accomplished wizard, but her mastery of her ancestor Miriel’s Corpumancy has only just begun. She has studied Corpumancy for but 20 of her 147 years, making her a young novice as compared to the great and gluttonous High Corpumancer Miriel.

Mecca has ventured through human lands, making allies, making meals, making meals out of former allies, and most importantly, making meals out of former enemies in her travels. In her exploration, she has happened across a place where her kind would most readily be accepted, where gluttony seems to be the norm as opposed to the shunned deadly sin it seems to be everywhere else. Her stomach prepared to hold more and more meals, Mecca is ready to continue her studies on more interesting subjects here…

History of the Corpumantic High Elves

Miriel Lightfoot, a budding mage, spent much of her time obsessed with the role of magic in the way elven, human, and other biological bodies were formed and held together. She began to tinker with the fine threads which connected the very elements which composed the bodies of living things. Her experiments yielded strange, otherworldly creatures, and for her work, her colleagues thought her a necromancer, and shunned her for her work. She left her city in exile, and began to work with human mages who had expressed interest in what her work could do.

Of course, the elven opinion of humanity was not exactly high at this point, these creatures seemed good for little more than bludgeoning or burning each other alive. So as she agreed to assist and teach these mages what she had learned in her personal study, the human mages began to vanish one by one.

It was not until a young acolyte entered her quarters unannounced that the truth of their disappearances was discovered: Miriel had altered her own physiology, and had acquired a snake-like ability to swallow living things as big as she was, whole and alive. She was in the middle of swallowing her sixth mage since her exile, and before she could grab the acolyte, she was exposed.

Miriel’s swallowing and digestion of these human mages had been a way of increasing her own capabilities. Their essence became hers, and with each new meal, she found that tapping into the leylines running beneath the earth was becoming easier and easier. Of course, once she was discovered, the mages would certainly kill her. She fled, her stomach still full of a struggling, slowly digesting wizard.

Her travels took her to an elven city, one which was home to a council of mages far more open-minded and receptive to her experiments. She described what humans could mean for elven mages, and her means of allowing others to do what she had done, and thus the Corpumantic High Elves were born through the Lightfoot name. Miriel grew to be a powerful and immortal sorceress through her consumption of human after human (and secretly, elf after elf), and reigns today over this city and all who follow in her footsteps.

Corpumancy Spells

A work in progress!

Notes on Corpumancy

Corpmancy allows Mecca to do things with certain spells that would otherwise be impossible. For example, if Mecca uses the Create Water spell, which bears the condition that it cannot be cast targeting the insides of a creature, she can ignore this condition, but only if she is able to concentrate absolutely. Things like this are possible through body magic, but are difficult nonetheless.
