Possible Scenarios

You, an upstart/otherwise unexperienced mage, being aware of the possibility to summon a Servant even though outside of the Holy Grail War and of the perks that come with having a Servant, has tried your luck with summoning one. Only the one you got was Medusa, and, well... Let's see how you fare from here.

For some reason known only to them, Medusa's shady master has ordered her to gather magical energy by whatever means necessary. So, she is forced to prey upon your character.

Medusa has either come into this world through some unknown means and is now without a master, or she has managed to break free from her previous one. In any case, your character meets her whilst she is lost and confused due to the transition from the spiritual realm to the physical one.

A legend born by the gathering of human belief, known to populate the fears of ancient men as a powerful female figure even the greek gods feared to cross, Medusa used to be known as the "woman who dominates". Her birth came to be from the union of a god and a human, making her a demi-goddess related to the earth - the sphere of her patron - though she never did really reach or gaze upon it during her human life. She spent her mortal years serving under Athena, goddess of wisdom in battle, sworn to castity due to her service of her. Even as a human, Medusa's beauty was legendary, and it held a divine aspect to it that attracted the God of the Seas to her. Poseidon was not held back by the triffle of her vow, and raped her while in service of Athena, a clear affront to the goddess. What Athena did to Medusa is said by many to be a curse, but it was actually a blessing in disguise. She took away the beauty that had damned Medusa, and gave her power to petrify those who looked upon her in exchange, also granting her the immortality that was denied to her due to her status as a mortal up until that point. She lived for hundreds of years in the Shapeless Isle, alongside her two sisters, who were also turned into Gorgons, Stheno and Euryale. All of those that tried to kill the monster and failed now stood guard on her island, stone statues that were testament to her power. Whilst the greek hero Perseus, son of Poseidon, did manage to kill Medusa, he had to use the gifts of many gods in order to succeed in his endeavor, and that was not the end for Medusa's story either, for she would end up being chosen as a tragic hero, a spirit brought back to life by the Holy Grail in order to fight in its bloody war.
