TLDR; An artifical life form stolen and turned into a maid, who is not the most happy with the situation she's in. Mei, or Meid as she is sometimes, rather annoyingly, referred to as by her owner, is just what she looks like. A maid with an attitude. The thing is, that's just her outwards appearance. Inside, there's a lot more going on than you might think. For starters, I mentioned she has an "owner", not a master/mistress or other employer. This is because, technically speaking only, Mei is an object. She is part of a line of artificially created life designed for only three purposes; To serve their owner. To provide companionship. To be a storage unit. Yes, you read that correctly, a storage unit. Though don't be mistaken, she's no robot nor is she equipped with any cybernetics of any kind. Her owner couldn't afford those for her. To be precise, they couldn't afford her in general. She's stolen property. Her owner believes this is where her attitude problem came from, given she had no programming when she was obtained by them. Again, she's not a robot or cybernetic, Mei's kind are purely organic artificial beings unless their owners modify them after purchase. When created, each individual is a fully blank slate, grown in a vat and mass produced quickly. Each is grown to a standard appearance, size, weight and ability with some being grown to custom order for additional cost. Mei is one such custom model, made and readied for programming, only to then be stolen away before she could be given her personality. As such, she developed one of her own while doing the bidding of her "owner". She was meant to be a companion and assistant for some wealthy person, only to end up being forced to work as a maid instead. She has no idea this is the case, no one ever told her she's stolen property. So back to the purposes of these artificial beings. Known collectively as "Arti-Dolls", short for Artificial Doll Girl/Boy, depending on physical appearance, Mei's entire life will be spent doing what others desire, though only if they are given permission by her current owner. Should her owner die, or otherwise lose possession of her, Mei will default to "factory settings". For her, this means she'll become an individual entity with no owner, given her "factory settings" are still in effect even now. For any other Arti-Doll, they'd become still and unresponsive until re-sold and re-programmed to obey a new owner. Of course, Mei being the way she is means she can actually refuse orders, unlike other Arti-Dolls, given she has no programming forcing her to obey. Essentially, her being stolen has given her free will, despite her still having the strong urge to surve the first person she met, or those she is told by them to serve. Arti-Dolls, as stated, have 3 main purposes. The first, to be servants, means that even without being programmed to serve, they still find themselves doing so because their bodies are simply made for servitude. Literally. The second, being companionship, means that they will also seek to be friendly, or at least, not unfriendly, as often as they can be. Programming may change this if someone wishes to have a rude or unpleasant companion. Mei has this desire to be close to people, though finds the actions of most people to be irksome most times. The third purpose, storage, is rather complicated. They compress whatever mass enters their body to store it safely and, if wanted, indefinitely. Anything that enters their mouth is coated in a special saliva-like fluid that eases passage of large objects up to the size of your average large watermelon and, when it mixes with a chemical found in their first stomach, the item is preserved in a coating that can only be broken by exposure to large amounts of oxygen. When wanted, the item is retrieved via a fully controllable puke reflex and thus, exposed to oxygen, breaking the preserve seal. Any item that passes into the Arti-Doll, be it living or otherwise, is rpeserved in this way and, due to other special chemicals they produce, compressed to a storable size never to be noticed from the outside. Advertised as having limitless storage capacity, Arti-Dolls actually only have space for about a small stadium's worth of items due to their compression ability. This compression ends and is reversed as soon as the item is requested for retrieval, restoring the stored item's former characteristics. It has been theorized that, if a Human were to somehow end up within an Arti-Doll, they could live forever in a preserved state. However, Humans usually don't think the idea of being swallowed alive to be all that enticing... right? The biggest issue would be having someone available to inform the Arti-Doll to release anyone inside them, else they could end up eternally stored. You see, Arti-Dolls were designed with an endless life in mind. Little need for food or water, no need to sleep. Never aging or deteriorating, in theory anyway, they are still living beings and some belive that some day, they will reach an end to their lifespan. Someday... it's been about 153 years since the first Arti-Doll and it's still going as if it were brand new. No one truly knows if Arti-Dolls can die due to age or not yet and if so, they especially have no idea when that'd come about. Due to their nature as living beings, they self repair minor damages and, given time and money, can even be fully restored should they be damaged too much to self heal. You'd simply need to put them back into a growth vat and the body would simply be re-grown to a fresh, good as new condition. This too essentially makes Arti-Dolls immortal. Of course, they can be killed. Any living thing can. Enough damage and they'd die like a Human. Oh yes, you noticed I said "first stomach" right? Well, Arti-Dolls have 3 stomachs in total. The first being the storage unit, where a constant supply of preservative fluids is produced. The second is used for digesting items they consume without motive to preserve. It is considered harmless to anything bigger than a grape however. This chamber is more used to dissolve the preserve they produce, before passing whatever enters on to the third. Anything in the second stomach will stay there for roughly 5 days, during which time it can still be retrieved. Once something passes to the third, it's never seen again in any form, nor can it be retrieved. This chamber is always filled with potent acids capable of breaking apart even the most corrosive resistant solid materials, thus it is considered to be lethal to all life too. It is advised not to venture into an Arti-Doll incase, for some reason, you are labelled sustenance and not an item to be stored, no matter how tempting it is, or how nice you think it might feel. So now you know what Mei is, my job here is done. What? You want to know mroe about her too? Alright then... Mei was designed to stand at 5'6" tall, roughly 168cm and she weighs 126lbs, even if she's storing heavy objects. She is capable of lifting up to 32 tons with ease, though this only goes as far as lifting weight. Her striking force is actually rather low, despite how strong she seems. This isn't a choice, she simply doesn't have muscles designed to punch or kick. She can perform such actions, but you'd probably only feel a small impact like if you were hit by a small teenager. Which overall she does resemble a teen, looking roughly 17 or 18 in age. You'll probably notice the first time you see her that she has blue hair and wears a stereotypical maid's attire at all times. You might miss the fact she has purple eyes at first glance, but up close, you'll definitely notice the striking colour of them. Her facial features are relatively soft and pleasant looking, though this isn't helped by her usual scowl, pout or otherwise annoyed expression. Personality wise, while she was meant to be a cheerful assistant type Arti-Doll, Mei has instead become a cheerful girl of her own, though most can see she's anything but pleased with her current owner. To anyone else, she'll be your best friend, or at least, not instantly displeased with you, even if she does think a lot of people's actions are irksome, though to her owner, she will always show both hostility and faithful servitude.
