Perhaps you've seen her notices posted on a local billboard, or heard mention of her while visiting your favorite tavern. Either way, word has been getting around – Melara is in the area, and she's looking for work. Sellswords and wannabe adventurers are a dime a dozen these days, though, so what sets Melara apart? Well, one look at her and you'll see. Dragon isn't just a nickname or calling card for this woman… she's the real thing!

Go ahead and stare if you must – she's plenty used to it by now. People just can't help themselves when they see the most beautiful girl in the realm (or so she tells herself). Though of typical human hight and build, Melara's draconic heritage is undeniable. The great set of wings which sprout from her back could perhaps be mistaken as demonic, as might the pair of horns which emerge from her wild scruff of auburn hair. The great scaled length of her tail, however, truly is the spitting image of her father's – if not a good bit smaller. Her reptilian features continue across her body, with flecks of tough scales scattered across her lightly tanned skin. Her attire is that of a rogue – black leather and a red silk shirt, allowing her complete freedom of movement if little true protection. And as for weapons? She is never seen without the exotic curved sword she selected from her father's hoard, as well as a few daggers hidden on her person. But if you ask her she'll tell you that a dragon's most dangerous weapon is her appetite!

As for what she does? Well – a bit of everything, if the price is right! Her greatest motivations are treasure, food and excitement, and she's found that she's often able to satisfy all three via adventuring. So, she takes whatever sort of work she can get. Jobs requiring a deft touch or quick thinking are her specialty, but she's just as happy swinging her sword around when needed. The one thing she will not abide are bandits, and sometimes she'll be willing to sacrifice payment of gold when dealing with them. They have a tendency to end up as dragon-chow, so it's a win win.

Melara is an extremely dragon-minded young woman. Having spent her earliest years being raised by her father Chaizirth, a proper brass dragon, she has a tendency to see things in a rather different way from most. Thankfully, she comes from 'good' dragon stock and this general inclination towards benevolence was instilled in her. Though her morality may at times be questionable by human standards, her heart is generally in the right place.

Curious about how she got her start in this whole adventuring business? Well, her father taught her what he could of the world, but he understood his half-breed daughter was not meant for life in his lair, sitting upon a pile of treasure. She was sent away at an appropriate age to experience the world of her mother's people – and this was fine by Melara! She'd spent enough time in that dusty old cave reading books anyway, and the human half of her heart yearned for new experiences. Her first solo foray into the human world, unfortunately, was a resounding failure. When she casually walked into town people panicked, and soon a mob was chasing her right back into the woods from whence she came. Such rude names were shouted at her – monster, demon, even troglodyte (the absurdity of it, calling a dragon a troglodyte!) - and rocks were hurled her way. Dismayed, she eventually came upon a small group of men that appeared equally fearful of her appearance, until their leader stepped up and offered her a place among them. This seemed fine and great, until they attacked a merchant heading down the road the very next day! Melara immediately understood that the men were thieves and dispatched them without remorse, and was even rewarded by the merchant for her assistance. She's been an adventurer ever since – slaying bandits, earning gold, spending gold, drinking ale, breaking hearts, and getting into plenty of trouble over the years! But trouble is fine – certainly nothing a dragon can't handle.
