... yeah, Mel isn't like that. Buuuuut, then, he's a bit further removed from his supernatural ancestor than most! ... mind, it doesn't make as MUCH difference, as his ancestor was a Demon Overlord, if an unusual one. He's actually the seventh or eighth born to this bloodline, since that particular infusion of power and genetics.
Of course, this far removed, there's nowhere near as much to tell what his ancestor WAS. HE only knows because his family knows the name of that particular demon, even if they only whisper it in hushed tones these days. Most of his kin, his parents and grandparents, are actually about as human as they come, and in no way equipped for dealing with that nonsense.
That said, Mel's a bit different. You see, Mel's a Tiefling, and a rather gifted one at that, magically speaking. His genetics are a throwback to his demon ancestry, making him a bit shorter(5'4", specifically) than he otherwise would be, affecting his hair color, and... well. Giving him a long, slender, willow-leaf tail(the tip is shaped thusly, anyway). His skin is fair, where most of his kin are somewhat dark-skinned, and his hair shows hints of red in its highlights, being otherwise black. His eyes, also, are rather different, being a striking red shade, and his ears are pointed, though shorter than an elf's. That's just the NATURAL parts, though.
You see... as a mage(really, it seemed the most viable career choice, to him), he's had access to all sorts of knowledge, and time to specialize a bit as far as his career. HIs particular specialties, for Chaos Magic(And dark magic in general), as well as Summoning, Binding, and Warding, make him an ideal anti-demon mage... or Summoner, really. In fact, he's a VERY gifted summoner, but such mages tend to make enemies with those they summon, for a variety of reasons, which is why Mel has warded himself extensively, with a series of magical tattoos over much of his body. ... that, and he thinks his ancestor might visit someday, and wants to be as well-prepared as possible.
To this end, he's also prepared himself in other ways. As mentioned, he's quite the competent mage, but he's also quite gifted in other ways. His ancestry has helped him in many ways, such as an innate sense for the supernatural, a strong will(And resistance to magic), and greatly enhanced stamina, besides. This means he's faster and stronger than most mages are, without having to worry as much about certain other things. He's also got enough sense to keep a stock of certain metals on hand, as well as writing tools(in a wide variety, at that) and a few magical trinkets, which may well surprise those who know what they can do.
