Mercurial

Mercury Johansen...better known to her friends as Mercurial. She was an ordinary human, a highschool senior. Then something happened in the science lab, a prank gone awry. A beaker of something experimental was left to boil, and when it exploded, it did so all over Mercury. Onlookers watched in horror as she screamed and....melted. Her body turned fluid, sloshing right out of her clothes in a twitching, semitransparent puddle. The girl responsible for overheating the solution ran over, disbelieving, and put a hand down in the puddle...

...which promptly lunged up her arm, engulfed her, absorbed her struggling bulk, and took on the shape of Mercury. Only....Mercury, completely nude, and composed of an unidentified goo. Still herself, mostly. Slightly confused, and with a new hunger.

Surprisingly, that hunger has come to be accepted, although it cost the school five students, a teacher, and the lunchlady. Thankfully these days Mercurial can decide whether she wants to dissolve what she "swallows" or not. She's also gotten to the point where she can eat things other than people, taking the edge off her urges. She's become almost popular, invited to most parties that are held for the sheer variety of tricks she can pull. Sleepovers are a particular treat.

Mercurial, in her ordinary shape, is a normally proportioned (well, a curvy) eighteen year old girl, around five and a half feet in height. She normally wears a school uniform when in classes, or jeans and a t-shirt when out of it. All of this is somewhat optional for the young googirl, however. She can alter her size, her shape, or go nude as she pleases. There are limits, but she's very malleable, and the more she practices the better she gets at it. The biggest advantages she's found to her new form are a nigh-invulnerability to acids and heat, and a lack of a need for air. In other words, she's almost impossible to digest and can't suffocate. She thinks of and refers to herself as female, but technically she's genderless, and is more than capable of growing male parts if she wants them.

She isn't invincible, though. Cold makes her sluggish and can stop her entirely, although she'll be fine once she thaws out. A strong enough jolt of electricity can make her lose control of her shape temporarily as well.

Mercuial isn't entirely transparent. When something is engulfed, it generally shows as a sort of darker mass under her "skin." If close enough to the surface, some detail might be visible, and a vague shape can be made out if someone looks close enough.
