On Amphitrites:
Meriana is a beautiful example of the fierce, if somewhat narcissistic race of merfolk known as the Amphitrites. Amphitrites are a warlike, very territorial subspecies of the generally more docile mermaids. Though they lack any sort of magical, or mystical prowess and they have, as a species, shunned any sort of tradescraft they were once considered some of the deadliest and dangerous denizens of the depths.
Amphitrites had long inhabited the deepest of trenches, falling upon all that dared wander into the darkness below. They evolved differently than their brighter-water kin, relying less on their sight and more on a specialized form of radar that pinpointed the electric impulses inherent in all living things as well as a heightened sense of smell that allowed them to follow wounded prey for miles.
Amphitrites have a few other notable traits: The horns that adorn all Amphitrites glow at the very tips uncontrollably in pressures found at five hundred feet or more of depth. Amphitrites have bodies capable of adjusting and compensating for extreme pressure and changes in pressure allowing them to venture to the surface and back to their trenches with little difficulty. The jaws of an Amphitrite are supple and adorned with rows and rows of teeth, a serpent/shark mixture, more for dragging prey downwards than ripping/shredding (though they're proficient at both). All Amphitrites are exceptional swimmers, capable of exceeding speeds of 50 miles per hour for short bursts.
The horns of the Amphitrites are razor sharp, they aren't used for hunting as much as they are for mating. Amphitrite mating rituals are little more than battles to the death. If the male can subdue and mount the female before she gores him to death he may pass his genes onto the next generation. Amphitrites give birth to live young, but aren't entirely caring parents. The fathers are usually dead or have fled and the mothers drive the child away once born.. in some rare cases the mothers eat the newborns.
The typical lifespan of an Amphitrite has never been recorded.. all known Amphitrite deaths recorded have been through the mating ritual or culled.
Considered savages and cannibals by the rest of the merfolk population, Amphitrites were nearly hunted into extinction by groups of the more organized, better equipped and more learned races. Those few Amphitrites that survive continue their solitary life, mostly in the darkest of depths.
Although not many Amphitrites take the time to learn the common tongue of the land, some exceptional members of the species have taken it upon themselves to attempt to understand the beings that hunt them (or.. that they hunt).
About Meriana:
Meriana has lived the typical existance of an Amphitrite female for as long as she can remember. Relying on instinct and trial and error as her teachers has made her a savvy, cautious if somewhat aggressive hunter.
At somepoint in her life Meriana became curious of the large vessels that glided across the top of the nigh-endless ocean in which she dwelled, beginning to follow them to ports, feeding off of any fish/merfolk/edible something or others that she could find as she sated her desire for knowledge by watching and immitating the sailors at the docks. After nearly being caught once in a net, she learned to keep her distance from the landwalkers, dissappearing in a quick dart of motion out to deeper waters at the first chance of being discovered. She watched as the generations of man turned, understanding their speech little by little.. and their customs.. and soon.. found herself enjoying the taste of their flesh. She came up with ways to lure them away, with a smile and a bat of her eyes, a toss of her hair and of course, sticking out that ample, perky, naked chest of hers.
She doesn't really enjoy conversation even if she is capable of it, it just doesn't hold much interest for her, she doesn't see the point of it. If you do get her to say a few sentences to you consider yourself lucky.
Preferences:
Meriana is an interesting character. She's an eating machine, it's her only real instinct and she follows it... often. Sex, is... a difficult... thing to accomplish with her.. it'd have to be forced on her.. as is the way of her race... also there are those horns to watch out for.
She prefers smaller meals to larger ones. She loves feeling the squirms of fish types slide down her throat. While she's capable of stretching fairly wide to take prey into her it's an uncomfortable situation. If it's bigger than a marlin, she's more likely to tear it to pieces with her teeth and horns before feasting.
She digests her meals slowly, assuming her prey doesn't drown within her, they could remain alive for days as her body slowly breaks down the meal into a nutritional slurry. Her inner muscles are very strong, like a vice.. and reflexively clench down upon any thrashing internal movements, this is capable of halting most potentially dangerous movements from reasonably strong animals/people.
Preferences Break Down:
Alright, Meriana is capable of soft and hard vore though I prefer the former, I want to stay true to the feel of the character. :) Soft vore is only oral and almost always against smaller aquatic (or waterlogged) characters or animals. Hard Vore is mostly anything bigger.. though if she's feeling particularly vindictive beings up to her 5'6" in height can be swallowed whole.
Meriana is mainly pred, I bet you gathered that, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that she could meet her match in the waters... so pred/prey ratio is 60/40.
She's rare, She's mysterious, She's Meriana.. and I'm sure she'd love to meet you.
Meriana is a Shattered_Requiem.
