Mika Kobayashi, The Shrine Maiden? No. The Not Shrine Maiden.

Mika is ten years old, if you don't like underaged characters, don't read.

Mika Kobayashi has always wanted to be a shrine maiden, but she's too young, and the role is already filled with her older sister. She would whine to her parents, to her community about how she wanted to be the one to look over the shrine, but they all just turned their heads, or got annoyed with Mika's presence. To be fair, she was starting to get worked up about nothing. She didn't -need- to be the shrine maiden, right? Of course not, but she wanted it. Other than her complaints about not being the girl who protects the shrine, she was a rather calm girl. Silent when she knew that she shouldn't talk. Sadly, though, her lack of talking lead to having zero friends. And not really having anyone there for her.

She left the village at the ripe age of ten, setting off into the world with very little. At least she was a good cook, right? Her story is a strange tale, but she left home because she felt unwanted, and she was rather successful with her running away, as it turns out, they stopped searching for her rather quickly... Which confirmed her youthful suspicions that they didn't want her. She took the first bus she could, using what money she had salvaged from her allowance, and her parent's wallets, and then she set off into the world, not knowing what would come of her.

However, she soon found out that a demi-human wasn't exactly a blessed position in the world, given most people were regular humans, and no one had really planned to help this poor kitsune.
