Mina, horticulturist by day and... Well, still a horticulturist by night he's just eepier at that time. Of course, that doesn't stop the strangest noises from his store even into the wee hours of the nights. His clients always get what they want, so long as they pay for it one way or another. He's remarkably kind and understanding, willing to give 0% interest payment options with a biweekly payment schedule. So far, he's yet to have a client fail to pay him in full... At least... He doesn't have any that have failed to pay and are still around...
He was born to a single mother, and she did her best! He never went hungry, although he didn't get quite as much food as one might want their children to get. He got a decent education at a cheap, affordable school. He was even put through college at a community college. His life was relatively uneventful... Or so it would seem on the surface. Regardless, he had a decent life that he is forever grateful to his mother for. He graduated with a bachelor in plant science and horticulture... Despite his formative years taking place in the great depression.
Yeah, fine, he isn't quite what he seems to be on the surface. Afterall, if he was a kid during the great depression... How on Earth is he even still alive??? It's simple, he comes from a family of rare, earthen-based plant Sirens called Tocsins. Technically, as a Triton is to a Siren, he would technically be a Newt. A man with a cacophonously loud Flute Plant. However, unlike other males of his race, he does also have his mother's gorgeous singing voice. Lace it with a little magic, and he can VERY convincingly recreate a Tocsin's hypnotic song. But... Surely, if he's living such a peaceful and happy life, he would have no need of this... Right?
Weeeeell he's not exactly a "flawless" gardener. He has had the occaisional customer that just could not be satisfied, threatening to tell whoever they could that his plants are terrible. Now, one might just ignore these threats, cut a loss and move on... But not Mina. He's sweet and caring, but he's also a bit vindictive. Customers? No no, customers are people that pay whst they owe without threatening his business. If customers refuse to pay, refuse to even discuss it, or they threaten to harm his business? Then they're no longer customers... They are victims. He will take his time, using his magic to turn his victim's plants into hypnotic servants that bend to his will. With extended exposure to these plants-turned-hypnotists, one's will is gradually worn down. Messages are implanted in their minds. Eventually, they slip into a waking dream, walking off into the night. Nobody's put it together yet, but whenever these people wander off, Mina always seems to be ona camping trip... And comes back with his clothes fitting a little more snug.
But that's not all there is to the boy, honest! He donates to charity, gives flowers to terminally ill patients in hospitals completely for free, and even volunteers at farms on the promise that a portion of the food he helps grow is donated to local food banks. Despite being a monster, and unafraid of using his more monstrous traits should someone draw his ire, he really does care for others and tries his best to help anyone and everyone. When it comes time for him to relax, he can be found grabbing portable electronic game systems and playing any number of farming or gardening games. He's recently found an enjoyment of Vocaloid music as well, often lidtening to it while working a job. And finally... He dabbles in witchcraft. It has so much stuff related to plants, how could he not???
