Luck be a Lady Tonight


Lady Luck is a woman that gamblers, no matter colour, creed or gender have grown to both worship and fear. Sure, they may assume that all games of chance are based on probability and not any actual luck but in the most desperate times, when you just NEED that ONE card to scoop the pot, a prayer goes out.

She hears them all. Some are graced with the fortune they seek and others are denied their winning hand with a bum card. It's just the way she works, mysteriously and unpredictable. Of course, such an enigmatic deity attracts an odd following. Of course the hot-shot poker ace will claim that Lady Luck smiles on him, but only the truly devoted know of her true nature.

One such person is Alana Fortuna. She is the sole Prophet of Fate, Luck, Destiny or whatever you choose to call it. Adopting the new name of Miss Fortune, she travels through the pocket dimensions of her Lady's kingdom, appearing when she is needed the most. Not all of her work involves gambling. A simple flip of a coin, unseen, can decide if the rope a desperate adventurer is clinging to will snap or not.

A disciple of such a governing body as Luck is granted many special powers. She carries with her at all times the tools of her trade; a pack of cards, some dice, a couple of coins and a silver ball. At will she may summon a suitable platform for challenges of luck. A card table, a roulette wheel and all other manners of similar furniture can be summoned out of the aether.

She will never turn down a game of chance, and she plays for keeps. Losers forfeit their height, their lives, their everything. Winners are granted great boons, fantastic good fortune and wealth beyond their dreams. Alana herself might also be on the cards...



Let the Games Begin!


Alana will accept most games of chance but she has her favourites. Such as....


Cards!

The players take turn rolling dice OoC. 1d14 and 1d2.

The first dice defines the card. After rolling, the player produces a card of that value from the deck. The effects are as follows.

1 - Ace - Player must follow next order given by opponent.
2 - Two - Shrink to half height (Stacks)
3 - Three - Growth to double size (Stacks)
4 - Four - Loss of Speech
5 - Five - Miss a Turn
6 - Six - Hypnosis lasting two turns
7 - Seven - Frozen in place
8 - Eight - Must answer the next question asked truthfully
9 - Nine - Mega Shrink! 1/10th height.
10 - Ten - Mega Growth 10 x height.
11 - Jack - Player draws another card
12 - Queen - Changes the colour of the next card drawn (by self or opponent)
13 - King - Are held, can be played at any time to make the opponent discard the drawn card and pick again.
14 - Joker - Wild Card! Can substitute any card

The second dice defines the card colour and thus the target of the effect

1 - Red - Self
2 - Black - Opponent

This goes on for 10 cards each, with heights and statuses at the end of play being permanent as far as the RP pertains.

Coin toss!

The most simple of all gambits. Players wager something, the challenger picks a face and Alana rolls 1d2 where 1 = Heads and 2 = Tails. The winner gets the spoils.


Higher or Lower!

A card is drawn using 1d13 (Jokers disabled for this game). The challenger must then guess if the next card is higher or lower in face value. Guessing correctly awards an increase in height. Incorrectly and they shrink by a predetermined factor before the game starts.

This game lasts a cycle of 10 cards and changes last until the end of the RP.
