Meet Miss Molly Merideth Mitchell, a young woman with a passion for music and photography, and a possessor of unnatural empathic abilities.
Starting from her first memories, she has always gotten a sense of the emotions of those around her, ranging from just a vague "tingling" premonition when at a distance up to actual experiencing of triggered memories and shared emotions if in physical contact. She learned almost as early that this ability was best kept a secret, lest she be branded and ostracized, or worse, confined and "studied".
As a result, Molly refrains from social situations as much as possible, and especially does not like physical contact. What is usually assumed to be a form of severe introverted behavior (and rather is, when you think about it) is really a deeply ingrained survival and coping mechanism. This also explains her fondness for thundering loud music with heavy bass lines. It might not actually STOP the emotional waves, but it sure gives her brain a distraction from them!
A desire to learn more about her abilities and their cause has resulted in a healthy dabbling in the occult, witchcraft, sorcery and even alchemy. Though she is far from being any kind of expert, she has a basic working knowledge of these arcane crafts, and learns more whenever she can.
