"The true god of the Shrine of Moriya."
She is the God of Mountains, and was once the leader of the many gods that lived in the Mountains. During ancient times, she was a god in control of "Mishaguji". Mishaguji were curse gods who had obtained enormous amounts of faith, cursing birth, harvest, military, and many other things. Making light of these fearsome gods would lead to divine punishment. The only one able to tame these gods was Suwako. Because of this, she gained an extraordinary amount of faith, and cultivated a kingdom as its ruler while still being a god. However, many other gods of Yamato (ancient Japan) invaded her kingdom.
One of those gods was Kanako.
The many gods of Yamato continually conquered the small kingdom for themselves. They said that ultimately, they would unify all countries and create a single country called Japan. Naturally, Suwako resisted and fought with the finest steel weapons of the time. However, Kanako held out a thin vine, and Suwako's large steel arsenal instantly rusted. Suwako realized the difference in their divine powers and her defeat. She valiantly forfeited and relinquished her kingdom. The new god that was said to have reigned over the kingdom was a god only in name, existing only to preserve the legend of Yamato.
In reality, Suwako continued to rule over the kingdom. Although the gods of the modern world have mostly been replaced by the Yamato Legends, she is still in her original form discreetly gathering faith.
However, the faith she has gathered throughout the eras is slowly fading with the introduction of the era of science. Suwako didn't mind so much, but Kanako panicked and moved the whole shrine to Gensokyo. Suwako didn't know how well she could get by in Gensokyo, but she decided to enjoy it as her final amusement. The reason she didn't argue with Kanako for deserting the kingdom and coming to Gensokyo was because she had no regrets left in the outer world. There were few people that knew her name. After all, even the closest human to Suwako, Sanae, doesn't know much about her.
Sanae is currently Kanako's Shrine Maiden, but the reason she can create miracles is because she is Suwako's distant descendant. Despite this, she does not seem to understand why there are two gods within her own shrine. Suwako didn't care whether or not she was fated to be forgotten anymore. She's actually thankful to Kanako as it seems she'll be able to enjoy a second life in Gensokyo.
Kanako is the God of wind, but why is a snake-patterned rope her trademark? There are two reasons. The first is because the snake symbolizes reincarnation. It was to oppose the fear of Mishaguji. And the second reason is because... She wanted to casually stress the fact that she won against Suwako. Why, you ask? Suwako is a god that takes the form of a frog, and snakes eat frogs. Rituals of the new kingdom included sacrificing frogs to state that "The Snake now rules this kingdom in place of the Frog."
This is one reason why Suwako and Kanako argue a lot.
They share common interests and are actually very good friends, however, as long as there is not an arguement happening at the time.

A spell card that blocks your escape route with the power of long-limbed, youkai-like gods. Native gods are basically the country bumpkins' gods. I think the rural area's gods are so strange-looking because they're actually youkai pretending to be gods.

A spell card that throws super-huge iron rings.It's a simple, bold attack, and I like it. Even though they're too big and I get a little impatient. But when I tried investigating just what those iron rings were, I got back answers like "they're hula-hoops." Native gods are awesome.

It seems that there's a place called Itoigawa in the outside world where jade gathers. And it seems to have a shady history, too...This spell card seems to be an image of that river's current, but the danmaku doesn't flow like the river. I think it's strange, how I get pulled along and fight against the current. Jade isn't very hard, but it has the property of being very hard to break. Even if it hits the ground, it won't be broken. I actually like jade.
Frog Hunting "Frog Is Eaten by Snake due to the Croak"

The counterattack spell card of the frog that was eaten by the snake. A big group of noisy frogs. In this spell card, when the frog raises a disturbance, it sets off a chain reaction, and nearby frogs attack. For that reason, you have to stay far away from the frog before it begins the disturbance. Amusingly, when you try to dodge, you end up jumping into Suwako's chest. This is the counterattack of a frog eaten by a snake, and it feels like a frog gulping down a human, huh?

A spell card that throws you into a war you have no memory of entering. Extremely bothersome. A war that you have no connection to whatsoever unfolds. You can't win if you don't keep dodging the stray bullets. Rather, this is a spell card where you just keep running away. What sort of battlefield is this, where weeds keep springing up, only to get cut down by iron blades? It represents a gardener's nightmare... doesn't it?

Basically, in my opinion, it's a youkai. It seems that this native god mainly rules over the crops. This danmaku gives you an image of crops rustling in the breeze. Unlimited simplicity and beauty. It's not particularly strong, but when you underestimate this god, it seems to completely change. The soil turns barren and crops wither in the blink of an eye. When that happens, this spell card attacks even more harshly. I may as well make it angry and try to see a new spell card. It'd be troublesome if the crops withered.
Notes to keep in mind
* Suwako has an especially long tongue, just like you would expect a frog goddess to have. She also generally hops around insted of walking normally.
* There is nothing inside of her hat except large amounts of hair, dont tug it off.
*Suwako loves frogs more then she loves you. Don't hurt frogs in front of her, even if you've been her best friend forever.
*Suwako also likes snakes, despite their tendancy to eat frogs.
