In the Beginning
The Third Vessel was one of the first few clones created by the Greater Being. The vessel's creation attributed to a Greater Being whom created vessels in its image to contain the ever swelling appetite within it. Mortifer, then a nameless genderless identical vessel, was the third of these 'vessel' created from the Greater Being. The Third vessel imbued with the most basic of thought processes by the Greater Being; Feed the Hunger. Yet, they were never the most perfect clone as the Third Vessel was 'defective' though such had gone unnoticed for a lengthy period of time; the Third Vessel merely going on to consume and devour happily what they wanted for their own appetite. 'The Third Vessel's reach far extended as they left a path of their voracious desire wherever they went.
Their creation not brought on by the mind of mortals or the summons from darker mind; they existed merely for consuming and they excelled in that objective time and time again. Though the Third Vessel's defectivity became more apparent as they developed their own conscious. They grew a self identity which lead to different desires than the simple pleasure of eating. The Third Vessel wanted to be their own being and fulfill themselves without having to be in the shadow of their creator. Emotions that it hadn't known before blossomed within and they'd grown more self aggrandizing and less bound by simple instinct. They could not help though but think if this was wrong.. were they not perfect because of this? Are they broken?
Perfection. Purity. Identical. These were words that rattled around in their mind as they traversed a new world. The Third Vessel found itself far from home and in a new world which they was curious about. The Vessel's intrusion was noted by the Old Gods in this world, however rather late by the time they did, and it would find themselves brought before them. With contempt and caution, this being was thoroughly examined by the gods; they looked at the amalgamation of Pokemon before them with more distain as if were an abomination. They did not care for these Old Gods though as they speculated on his origins or his purpose. They would atleast learn the latter as the Old Gods would find themselves snarfed down like any other prey for the Third Vessel. Their 'powerful' bodies in the end would only go towards powering a lesser deity as their very selves were absorbed by his body. After all, there only needed to be one God..
Born Again
The name Mortifer would be given to the Third Vessel before their eventual incursion by the Old Gods. A name that was given to the vessel by the mortals as they indulged on the cuisine available in this world. In their early days, they could only think to sate their hunger. Their appetite leading to many being devoured so greedily which left them stuck with their stomach bloated beneath their legs often. It was a constant cycle of eating whatever they could find with little planning or thought behind it. Eventually the name of 'Mortifer' would be coined to the vessel for their deeds towards the fearful mortals. The name spreading throughout the land in myths and tales about an insatiable beast that roamed and preyed on any denizen. Yet not every mortal feared this 'monster' as Mortifer was called. Instead, apostles came that looked upon them much more highly than others that had written or depicted them. It stroked their interest to say the least and they watched on as they wrote sweets words of worship and admiration upon Mortifer Quod Devorator and formed cults in their name.
Mortifer felt they should.. reward them if anything for their courage to believe in them and more so for seeing them as something to worship instead of something to fear like the others. Eventually, Mortifer would appear before them once during one of their gatherings at last. Their surprise and glee to see in the flesh and fur the one that they had been told either did not exist or simply would cause them death. Though they did no such thing, instead they thanked them for their appraisal. Their mouth opening but rather than eat, they spoke for the first time in ages to the mortals. Mortifer drank it all up; their words, their adoration, their respect.. they realizes this is what must feels like to be something more than a mere copy of a greater being. It was rather divine for them and they would continue to let them stroke their fur and his pride every time they appeared to them. The followers under them grew and grew. Entire ancient temples were built for them and statues were erected in their image. Mortifer seen a perfect to the followers beneath which pleased him very much.
New Prophet
Rebellious, corrupted or tainted even, Mortifer changed themselves to be as much as their own as possible. They could not change their physical make up as it would stay like their creator but that did not stop them from changing their appearance to one that they saw fitting for themselves. Mortifer even took up the mantle as what the mortals would call a "Male". His transformation being something that he was proud of as he finally was becoming himself rather than living in the shadows and being a defective vessels. He became a God in the eyes of his worshippers who willingly gave themselves to his appetite. He became a Demon in the eyes of his detractors who he took great pleasure in being offered as tribute to be consumed by his followers or hunted by him. Mortifer wanted more despite this; a greed that he could only sate when his belief that 'everything belonged to him' was truth. So much chaos and unrest could only be overlooked so long though as the Old Gods would finally notice the interloper but that would merely bring Mortifer to those that he wanted to meet at last. Those that he wanted to consume..
Through the ages, followers of Mortifer would grow in the shadows as the times changed. They continued their worshipping of the godly mon while the fear of Mortifer would steadily become but ancient mythos. His temples and statures of him and the depictions of his feasts growing scattered and lost to time. Mortifer himself had vanished after a few centuries after his ascension; the many cults believing that their lord had not abandoned them but rather slumbered. After so many feasts and practically conquering swaths of lands with his charisma and powers, their god needed to rest and rejuvenate his strength. One day Mortifer would awake from his slumber and return to a new world to instill his will yet again. They would wait for him as their faith would continue as passed from generation to generation. They await his awakening and their faithfulness may just be rewarded sooner than they might have thought at last..
