Nefret

Nefret was born in early Egypt to a middle class family of commoners that held no special place in their society. She grew up with everything handed to her because of her natural beauty. Nefret was revered by everyone that layed eyes on her and she was courted by many suitors, but she turned every one of them down. Infatuated with her beauty, the goddess Isis herself took a special interest in the woman and visited her frequently. Nefret was under no illusion as to who Isis was, and it didn't take long for a relationship to bloom between them. Unknown to Isis, Nefret had a innate lust for power and used this relationship to her advantage. She asked Isis to bestow upon her the power of magic and to teach her, and the goddess did so. Nefret was taught by the goddess of magic for years, always hungry for more power. Once she had a good enough grasp, she used her magic to train in secret from Isis in forbidden, dark magicks. As her relationship with Isis grew, her desire for power did as well. One night when Isis visited her, Nefret took advantage of her attraction and used her dark magic to suck out Isis's essence, cementing her as the most powerful sorceress in the world. She had no regrets in the act of killing a god, and she used her newfound power to take the throne of Egypt for herself. She used her magic to absorb everyone with even a trace of royal blood, and she found herself rejuvenated after all of them. Their lives were added to hers, so as long as she kept absorbing the souls of mortals (or the occasional immortal when she got her hands on one) she would live forever. Hundreds of years passed and her reign was absolute--even the other gods didn't dare challenge the woman that held the magic and wisdom of Isis. However, as time continued to pass she grew bored of her position and her desires changed. Nefret took a number of her most devout followers and virtually disappeared into the world, and her name faded from all records. She retains a small, cult-like following in different areas of the world whose loyalties never waver, no matter how long she is gone from them. Nefret now spends her times exploring the world as well as other realities she happens to find through magic, using the beings she comes across for sex, entertainment or more power... Usually all three.
