Nefret is a Djinn, made of a silvery substance known as essence, that allows them to shapeshift in many different forms or appearances. (From any species feral or sentient)
As a Djinn, the concept of "biological sex" doesn't really apply to Nefret and when it comes to gender, the Djinn is very fluid.
But despite the ability to easily switch gender, Nefret tends to do it according to mood, having their subby side mostly male and their dominant one female, therefore it also reflects with the prey or pred role.
(Lately, I favor the Lady Nefret form)
STORY
Nefret is an ancient and powerful Djinn over 6000 years old, through history Nefret mostly kept the appearance of an intimidating Egyptian woman.
Originally from the lost city of Duat, in Egypt, they have seen the rise and fall of numerous empires and served under some of the greatest magicians in history.
But there lies that word they hates so much "served", as a Djinn they used to be frequently summoned by sorcerers of old and placed under their command for either dangerous, boring or degrading tasks.
Prideful by nature, they would loathe to serve anyone, but as the years went on, Nefret made sure to devour every single magician that had ever learned and attempted their summoning ritual, thus getting the respite needed to live free and on their terms.
With the newfound anonymity, Nefred has adapted the form of an innocuous coptic egyptian teen as their "default" and form, figuring it would help keep their identity and nature hidden, at least better than an attractive, voluptuous woman, with a piercing and predatory stare. in fact most assume, they are just a regular human and mostly goes unnoticed, but if around people they trust or future meals, they would revert to the preferred Lady Nefret form.
Although, occasionally someone would find written in forgotten ancient tomes the instructions to perform the ritual, forcing Nefret to deal with the new summoner.
PERSONALITY AND POWERS
Nefret isn't neither good or bad, but mostly a collection of positive and negative traits.
You can expect the Djinn to be very mischievous, but also kind hearted to anyone that is not considered an enemy, although to what is indeed an enemy or threat, Nefret will be downright sadistic and cruel.
Nefret is meant to be a very powerful character, with a vast array of spells to choose from (usually Sun themed) but at times the Djinn may find situations in which they can't come on top.
When threatened Nefret is able to concentrate their consciousness and powers into a floating silver ball, that they will quickly eject.
The ball then will float somewhere safe where it can regenerate the essence. Unfortunately the body from which the ball is ejected remains conscious and with no powers.
Essentially a duplicate, doomed to experience whatever fate awaits it.
