Let's start things off with a story about a girl with a problem, shall we?

Nice... was just a girl. Or she thought she was. Simple enough, really. Cute, wore simple clothes, a light shirt and a simple skirt that came two thirds of the way down her thigh. Her hair is an odd color, actually, a dark blue shade, though she doesn't dye it in the least, and her eyes are a lovely blue-green shade, outside the human norm for sure. And this is a clue.

She was enjoying a day with her friends. Just an ordinary day, as usual, chatting with her close friends, eating lunch in a park, when the strangest thing started to happen. Everyone else in the park just went... still. Even her friends, they all froze. Only Nice seemed able to move, as she looked around, confused and worried... before OTHER things started to happen.

She saw... things, out of nightmare. She saw things of incredible beauty at war with them. And she saw still other things that looked human, but for subtle flaws.... such as webbed hands, scales, and the like. All in an instant. And something in her awoke, giving her a splitting headache, making her black out briefly.

When she came to, her friends were looking at her in the strangest way. She'd just toppled over, according to them, and they all wanted to know if she was okay. 'Yes, I am..." she said. However... she wasn't sure about this at all. She was willing to write it all off as a hallucination or bad dream, though, from passing out.

The thing about that was what else she could see now.. lurking at the edge of her vision, at the corner of her mind. She could feel things, tickling at the edges of her perception, and she had that throbbing headache. So she went straight home, and went to bed, collapsing into a fitful, nightmare-filled sleep. Dreams of what had happened in the park, and more than that, filled her head as she slept... tossing, and turning, until daybreak, when she was jarred awake by a new sensation...

And one that was not her own.

She felt.... hot water, on her skin, cascading over it. The sensation of a cloth, wet and soapy, rubbing at herself. And... something else. And she felt emotions that were not her own, at the same time... worry, mostly, about a girl.

She felt her brother as he was showering. She felt EXACTLY what he felt. And, needless to say, it freaked her OUT. But who would believe her if she told them about it? No one, that's who... so she shut up,and hoped it would go away. And it did seem to, for a day.

But as days passed, it came back, and stronger than ever. She felt more every day, and for longer times, until she was constantly feeling everyone around her... and EVERYTHING about them. Her headaches returned full force, and never left her, until she learned how to block out the sensations assaulting her in her as best she could.

Still... things were different now. Her grades suffered for it, for one. Her work was poorer than it had ever been, now. Her friends commented that she was different now, and drifted away. She knew too much about them to be comfortable, is what the problem was.

And then it happened again... time slowed, and THINGS came out... she saw them, heard them... felt them, as well, in her way. Only now? Now, it was FAR too much for her. She passed out almost instantly, in the middle of class, and didn't wake up for days.

When she woke up again, it had been three days. No one knew why she had passed out like that, and they were about to call in a specialist on sleep disorders to see what was wrong with her. She wasn't in a coma after all, even if she was non-responsive. She was just in a deep, deep sleep. However... when she woke, she could see things, still... things that she should not be able to. For one... one of her nurses wasn't human. No way that halo and those white wings were attached to a human who looked that good. Ohhhh no.

And one of her fellow patients... they weren't human either. Oh, she could see how they would look human, but it was like... a faint, transparent overlay, that let her see what they really looked like. In this case, they were covered, all over, with what looked like tattoos that shifted and writhed.

And.... as you may have surmised, Nice realized that she, herself, was not human. Not quite, at any rate. She was something like all of these... though what she was, she didn't know.

Standing 5'2, Nice looks the same as she ever did, most of the time. She does not, however, think in the same way. She is an empath, and a telepath, and possibly more than that, as well. She's part-human, but definitely part-not, as well. And she knows it... oh yes, she does.

It's what lets her see all these other things out there. Her eyes penetrate every illusion, peer through every glamour and veil. At least, when she tries to. Most of the time, though, the girl doesn't want to see through what humans accept as the status quo. Ignorance is bliss, as it were.

Nowadays, Nice tries to find people who accept her without question... people she can just be with, and soak up good emotions from. There's too much distress and anger in the world, and it takes its toll on a poor little empath like Nice. People who make her happy and who she can make happy, or people who accept everyone, help keep her sane... and she knows it.

So which are you? Or are you someone who just sees a snack on legs? Doesn't matter, really.

Please don't be afraid to PM me if you're interested, but please, at the same time, don't PM me ICly, I'd like to talk before we do anything.
