Name: Nicole Novak
Location: Transfer student to
Primrose_Academy.
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Personality: Nicole Novak is a recent transfer to the Primrose Academy. A serious-minded and intelligent girl, Nikki (as she prefers to be called) is a calm girl not given to strong emotional swings.
Possessing an inquisitive streak, Nikki has a thirst for knowledge, though her methods of acquiring such are limited to books and the internet. Field study just isn't her thing. Given to quiet reflection and study, Nikki prefers quiet, laid back activities to faster paced, more athletic pursuits. It is not that she is particularly unfit, it's just that sports aren't her thing. She doesn't under-perform in gym, either, and does exercise to keep her health up, she merely doesn't enjoy it.
But Nikki considers books to be treasures unto themselves and can often be found with her e-reader on her person. She fills it with both classic fiction and non-fiction. She is one of those very rare teenagers that reads the great works of Locke, Calvin, and Plato alongside Melville, Dumas, and Hemingway for the enjoyment of it and not because a teacher ordered her to for class. As a result, Nikki is erudite and well read, possessing an expansive vocabulary and an increasingly libertarian view of the world.
The stereotypical view of a person such as Nikki is that of the introvert, her nose always buried in a book. But in Nikki's case, this is a good deal far from the truth and she always has time to talk to the people around her. The wide range of topics she studies has given her a wealth of things with which to hold a conversation and she is by no means socially deficient. It is true that she has more friendly acquaintances then true friends, but this is out of personal preference rather then inability to make lasting relationships. To Nikki, it is important to have a few very close friends then a lot of casual ones. Ironically, this has has the unintentional effect of helping to insulate her from some of the more insidious facets of the Primrose Academy. If someone isn't a close friend, it's easier to move past their sudden disappearance, after all.
It is Nikki's dream to become a writer. She doesn't know what of, however. While she has a strong preference for science fiction (and she'll be quick to remind you that she means 'real' science fiction such as the works of Herbert, Heinlein, or Aasimov...
not that Star Wars crapola), she is considering entering into the realm of philosophy in the modern day arena for it; the great debate of theism vs atheism. She is also considering sociology as a potential major, and wants to follow in the footsteps of writers like Hitchens or Rushdie and crusade against tyranny and champion human rights to make the world a better place for all peoples.
Nikki has a very bright future ahead of her because she has both the talent, the drive, AND the self-discipline to make her dreams come true. The only thing she has to do now is... survive Primrose Academy. She transferred in to improve her transcript (and she has a number of fine colleges she's looking to apply to), but the odd disappearances are starting to make her jumpy, as are the sinister rumors of the true nature of the school...
Recent Updates:
Following the death of Ruth at the hands of
Tzelle, Nikki seems to have gone 'over the edge'. After several day's absence from school (her first absences in years, no less), she returned in time for the Spring Fling, but came back... changed. She's now listed as being both a 'Predator' as well as a 'Special Needs' student, wearing her school uniform to expose as little flesh as possible and has included a hooded cape, as well as carrying a flask at her hip. Students are whispering that she's become an actual vampire and while many aren't sure how to take the news, the fact that she's started to actively oppose the school's predators physically has made many glad she has changed, even if the transition seems to be slowly destroying her.
The nature of Nikki's struggles within Primrose Academy have changed drastically. Unlike most students, it is likely that she will survive her time in the school's increasingly anarchic and hostile halls (if becoming a member of the Nosferatu can be said to be 'surviving'). Instead, Nicole's struggles have become centered around two different points. First, there is her struggle to stick to her beliefs, that there is an inherent goodness in humanity and that higher philosophy is the way to improving the lives of all. Second, there is her much more dangerous inner struggle to retain her humanity after the biological changes that have come over her and her daily battles to control the unquenchable thirst that she constantly feels, so that she does not hurt innocents in her need to 'feed' upon the blood of the living.
Nicole has become a very, very scary young woman because she now has physical ability to match her considerable mental acuity. She is strong, swift, utterly tireless, and unflinchingly brave. She is one of the few powerful members of the student body that is more interested in defending the weak rather then predating upon them. The full extent of her vampiric powers are unknown to the general population at large... it is very likely going to be that predators will learn which of the mythic vampire strengths and weaknesses are fact and which are speculative fiction the very hard way... on the receiving end of them.
