Nyla_Of_The_North

Nyla is a member of a tribe indigenous to the northern extremes of the planet. She is adept at survival in the most frigid of climates, capable of existing (and thriving) in temperatures that would literally freeze most normal humans to death. She can function for days without food, run for hours on end (with enough agility to hop between ice floes), and if necessary, hold her breath for several minutes.

Her separation from the land of her childhood was brought about by mere chance, as the great iceberg on which she was hunting calved in two, and the smaller portion (bearing Nyla) drifted out to sea. Trapped on the frozen island for weeks, Nyla was rescued by a merchant vessel (her first encounter with people not of her tribe). This good fortune was quickly reversed, however, as the merchant ship itself was caught in a strangely eerie storm and wrecked. Nyla once again found herself adrift, this time clinging to floating debris. She landed on the shores of the Nexus, battered and alone, yet unafraid and ready to face the new challenges ahead.

For Nyla is, typical of her people, entirely without fear. She is quite intelligent, though uneducated. Her people have no written language, but though she does not grasp the concept of a "book", she understands learning and is eager to absorb any information she can.
