Ori "Quil" Thrace, a human denizen of the desert planet Caovis IV in the outer rim. As it was for most "dusters," life there was almost hopeless. Luckily for Ori, she found two talents she could exploit: fixing machines, and piloting machines. Ori decided to pursue this as a means to get by. Ori competed in illegal races organized by the criminal underworld of her home, fueled by betting. Though her beginnings were humble, one syndicate saw opportunity: a young hot shot underdog who they were confident would win, an investment that would yield immense profit. With proper financial backing, a talent at the stick, and the ability to tune her craft beyond its limits, she became a local legend. At just 16 Ori quickly rose to fame in her region, and went on to compete planetwide. Unfortunately, as quickly as she rose to fame, she fell from it without grace. A reactor failure caused by careless modifications led to a terrible accident, Ori losing her leg as a consequence. That wasn't the only consequence, the syndicate bet big on that event, and pinned all of their losses on Ori. After a year in rehab, she found herself with a half baked prosthetic leg and crippling amounts of debt. Instead of letting it crush her and trap her for the rest of her life as the syndicate intended, she set out to settle them the quickest way she could. With her skills she could easily learn to pilot a mech, and maybe, just maybe, have a shot at becoming a lancer. The risks were immense, but so were the rewards.
Ori is a blunt girl, not afraid to speak her mind. Her wants typically include being left alone to work on her mech and listen to her music. Her habits of maintenance are almost obsessive, for she never wants to be caught in another accident again. Many hours are spent tearing out components, disassembling them, cleaning them, and putting it all back together. While her cold nature would suggest she doesn’t care for others, but this is far from the truth. The same effort she puts into her gear is the same amount she puts into her unit’s, never wanting a mechanical fault to cost a friend their life. Many sleepless nights are spent crawling in the tight spaces of their machinery double checking all the vital systems, replacing and upgrading parts if necessary. Nobody was there to be her guardian angel, so she strives to be one for them.

A mock up of her mech K.T, gift from a friend.
Depending on where in her timline you meet her, she might be a more rugged and capable pilot. Ori would by this point be a wanted space pirate, a vigilante.
The following are references for a commission I want to do but I currently am unable.
How I imagine her suit. Black, shades of grey, and trace amounts of red. Lose the jacket.
Her sword (It's quite short actually).
Gun, a very light autopistol.
Ori getting vored by a dragon. This piece was a gift from a friend.
This character doesn't really have a fully fleshed out story yet, so enjoy some trivia!
- She got the callsign Quil because "She's like a hedgehog, she's cute, small, and will be very painful if you approach her without her permission." -Anonymous
- She came across a ten thousand year old tape of "Ride the Lightning," it is now her most prized possession.
Mech Pilot
She pilot's her trusty mech "K.T." It can fly, shoot, blow things up, among many other things that will eventually be listed in detail.
Hired Gun
She herself is proficient with an assault rifle and protects herself with light armor. When not geared for combat always carries a sidearm, and a wrench.
Where do those come from?
She seems to have the ability to throw wrenches at people with a limitless supply, especially if someone calls her short. Her accuracy in this regard is uncanny.
Things of note:
- She is a character in the “Lancer” setting. Far distant future sci-fi.
- It wouldn't exactly be fair for her to have a mech in a scene, so assume she is out of it, and quite possibly away from it too. The mech can be in scene if desired.
