Orupactli are what some folks would consider a monster.
Not often seen, they are recorded, from the tales of various people, as large beasts, standing nearly seven feet tall. Covered in what appears to be slimy scales, and well-built and muscular.
Most claim that odd spines protrud from its arms; Some claim they were used in defense, launched at the onlooker. Others say they are merely decorative, the 'lucky' few coming across several stating them to be larger and more defined depending on the 'rank' they had in the group. Along with these spines, the creatures boast large webbed claws on each hand, the idea of them being aquatic quite common, as many state they've fled to a lake or river when spotted or attacked.
A large, insectoid like tail also proceeds from behind them, many stating despite the 'firm, rough' texture the beast has every else, the tail seems oddly squishy, the underside especially so, even appearing translucent. Another common rumor is this also is the creature's stomach, as many a herder will agree and state that they've seen it moving, some even going as far as to stand by seeing their live-stock struggling about beneath the translucent skin.
The head and face is a common argument on how it looks, however, though a new theory has come up suggesting the creature in question can shift between them. At first it appears naturally humanoid, sans the incredibly large black eyes and near flat nose. A muss of hair atop it's head, again said to be a sign of rank in groups. However, what makes this creature unique is when it proceeds to actually open it's mouth.
Whilst perfectly capable of merely opening it's mouth like one would suspect a human to do, the Orupactli can also open it's lower jaw left and right, revealing three long, slimy tendrils from within. Many have stated this is for devouring the larger meals whole, as it both restricts movement whilst also pulls the creature inward.
Despite all this... it certainly is just another silly monster villagers are making up...right?
