Once Pam was a normal human, just like you and me, she grew up in a small town at the sea, where most people are fishermen like her father. Naturally she enjoyed the sea, even more when her father took her on a fishing trip for the weekends. Growing up like this Pam and her siblings were raised mostly by their mother, but of course their father, a serious, beareded man always played an important role.
She soon had to leave town more frequently to go to college and the times that she could go out on the sea with her father were rare. She found new friends and almost forgot about the sea at all. Things changed however when her father died, barely able to pay college for one kid, she often had to come home and go fishing with her brothers. One night they got into a terrible storm, strugging to get inside after securing the catch, Pamela was washed over the rail and dropped into the stormy sea. There was no way her brothers could save her and slowly she started to sink to the ground, her warm woolen clothing dragging her down. Then she found herself in the arms of a mermaid, a real mermaid.
Barely conscious she didn't know what happened next, only that things got dark and the few times she woke up, she was in a dark, yet warm and soft place. She couldn't tell for how long she was in a state like this, but finally she got out, it had been months, the autumn storms that had sent her overboard were long over and the spring sun was shining on the water.

Something had changed though, Pamela was no longer human, a mermaid she could now live in the sea she loved so much, exploring and finding new fascinating things every day. Currently she's living with the mermaid who resqued and turned her, a beautiful woman who, unlike herself, had been born a mermaid and was now trying to teach her about the things she had to know to survive in this new environment. She learned that the technique used by Velania had been used only a few times, at least with success and that she was one of the few alive who knew about it. Pamela of course knows how it works, but she doesn't know if she can do it.
Among the many things that changed for her, there was the food, it no longer were spaghetti or fries, but fish, fish and more fish, oh and of course the occasional human, if she could catch one. Being able to breathe out of the water, she didn't visit the beaches very often, not ready to face her brothers and tell them about what had happened. Soon she moved away from this particular shore and region, finding a new place to live all by herself, a fresh start, a new life.
