Paphus

Paphus (original name unknown) is a strange and unique being. An automaton, Paphus was originally a human scientist working for a morally corrupt but technologically advanced empire. She made two great discoveries, one that would kill her and one that granted her a sort of immortality. The latter came first, a method to transfer the soul of an individual into an incorruptible mechanical body. The former was a creation of necessity. See her empire had delved too deep into metaphysical studies and discovered an ontological predator of fearsome might. And in discovering it, It discovered them. To combat It, Paphus created a trojan horse, an artificial being that would sneak into It's hivemind and control it. But, well, her creation had ideas of its own.
She awoke sometime later, her laboratory in disarray and in not her original body, but the automaton body she created.
