Pia - scientist, tinkerer, half-gnome!
Pia is a bit of an oddity, a genius inventor, alchemist, with a knack for combining magic with technology. She’s not as young as she might look at a glance and has been blessed with looking cute as a button while still having some darn sexy curves. Half gnome, half human comes out to about dwarf height, though that’s just about the only shared feature, Pia lacks the muscular stocky build, the knack for mining and of course the silky smooth beard.
Her father, bless him, passed away adventuring, but Pia remembers him fondly, the fighter always managed to make her smile with his stories and jokes. Her mother retired from the adventuring life after having her, working a few hours in a bar to make ends meet when the money her dad sent wasn’t enough. There was always a rainy day fund, until her mother decided to use it to send Pia to a premier academy of sciences to allow her Pia’s genius to be nurtured the way it deserved and needed. So Pia started studying, knowing how much her parents had sacrificed, how hard they worked to allow her to obtain all the knowledge of natural sciences that were usually little more than a hobby for nobles with too much time on their hands and in need of a hobby. She didn’t really fit in, figuratively and literally, her small frame making her an easy target for mockery and teasing, her social skills, emotional intelligence, already lacking becoming only more stunted, isolated as she was.
Nevertheless, she graduated with some of the best grades the academy had ever seen and with the last of their money got her first workbench in one of the local workshops that offered to rent out, usually to their own apprentices, but her mom managed to talk the around to giving Pia a place to work. It didn’t take long for Pia to come up with some helpful inventions.
Several years have passed since that rough start and now the half gnome has her own little workshop her specialty are built to purpose devices, usually commissioned by someone coming to her with a problem and offering a budget and reward. If something is to be mass produced, she insists on a cut of a the profits and credit for the design. She did have to make sure her mom was comfortable as she was getting on in years.
Now, you may be thinking this was all terribly dull and not very well fun… but you see, underneath the shy exterior is a very pent up and needy girl, and she has dedicated no small amount of time to her passion projects and turned out some rather interesting toys to explore all kinds of fun things. Most people never learn of this side, the socially awkward inventor struggling to even make normal conversation, flirting is completely out of the question. She has a bit more of an affinity for girls and pretty things. Easily flustered she contends herself with her own fantasies and sometimes watching or listening to people enjoying themselves.
Lastly, it’s impossible not to notice just how incredibly delicious she looks and tastes, not to mention her size making her a manageable snack for pretty much anyone with sufficient appetite. That said, she doesn’t often wind up in situations where she might end up a snack in her day to day life and for those times when she does leave her comfort zone, she does have a few tricks up her sleeve and despite her appearance she can pack away a full grown person no problem after giving them a taste of her zapper.
Now if you combine with her repressed sexual urges with how prone she is to becoming a snack, you can probably see how this half gnome can wind up in trouble more often than one might think. Then there’s often projects that require her to travel, like when setting up a machine to assist in mining operations or a mode of transportation and of course some inventions just can’t and shouldn’t be tested indoors. One thing she’s reluctant about at best are weapons, oh she does have some ideas for some nasty things, but she would rather prefer not to cause harm when it can be avoided. But who knows what troubles are ahead of her <3
Tl;dr - Half gnome who is very booksmart and far more of an indoors person spending a lot of her time in her workshop/laboratory.
When not working on personal projects, she does commissions that help her earn a keep since she doesn't want to bind herself in a contract with a specific patron or guild.
She's got knowledge of the arcane, mecahnisms, chemistry/alchemy and a lot of her expertise lies in combining the different disciplines in her inventions.
While she is very book smart, she does lack social skills, is easily flustered, a little naive even. She's excitable and can have a bit of a romantic streak.
With those traits it's not uncommon for people to take advantage of her, which has just become another reason for her not to leave her workshop save to get supplies.
