Red_Mage

Red Mages are members of a sacred magical order, able to cast spells associated with either Black or White Mages, as well as wield swords. Unfortunately, the jack-of-all-trades quality of their profession makes them less powerful at each individual skill than the classes which specialize in them. In general, they are only able to cast low-mid level spells, but make up for this deficiency by casting more quickly, often associated with the ability to cast two spells in a single combat round known as Dualcast.

In dress, Red Mages are usually recognizable by a distinctive red hat tipped with a white feather, along with beautiful red garments.

This character, though based on the FF:XI Red mage class, should not be applied as such, and any flaws or inconsistencies seen with her compared to a FFXI Red mage should be ignored, as she is an RP character.

Back story: Excel, though she doesn't know it, is a very rare breed in her world...

Most people at a young age in her world seek to choose a path...Whether its of the sword, the black or white arts, or a specific style of fighting onto itself. Most little boys and girls dream of becoming knights, Black mages, Clerics, and Monks.

Not Excel...She could never choose....all through her life she wanted to do everything at once, and even her teachers saw this indecisiveness as a real problem for the girl....Till she was brought to the choosing that is.

It was then that she was unceremoniously brought into the world of Red magic, the art of, quite literally, specializing in not being specialized, the red mages immediately seeing the potential the girl had to become a powerful asset in their ranks.

Fast forward ten years, and here you see her now

She had become so dedicated in her arts and the way of the red mage, she is what most other red mages strive to become, even though most fall to the wayside in the end. Excel herself though is more of a caster, preferring to use her skills in white and black magic to enhance her rather limited physical ability, this actually does balance things in the end.

Personality: Excel is a bit eccentric at times, but then again what mage isnt? Ambitious and eager to learn, she also has a charismatic and commanding personality, loving to be the focal point of a party, even histrionic esk in tendancies. She LOVES talking with people about magic, especially if it allows her a way to become more versatile in battle. Excel is fairly even tempered also, though she isnt so much that she does not become angry at times, so be careful!

Excel lives for the heat of battle, an odd trait for a red mage, but she loves showing her tactical prowess either in scenario given to her, battle in general, or even card and tabletop games, the girl enthralled with the concept of strategy.

Joyeuse: Though it is not a Sabre or sword of legends, its craftsmanship and lightness make it one of the best blades for any red mage, excel included...It also has a chance of dealing double the normal damage with a simple enchantment in the blade.

Warlock's Chapeu: The traditional hat of a Female Red mage, tailored toward casting, it gives her a general boost in her MP, this particular hat giving a boost to Blizzard based spells and is quite fashionable of course!

Warlock's Tabard: The traditional body armor of a Female Red mage, tailored toward casting, it gives her a general boost in her MP, and this particular top makes it easier for her to cast spells without interruption.

Warlock's Gloves: The traditional glove of a Female Red mage, tailored toward casting, it gives her a general boost in her MP, along with giving her an increased chance to parry blows.

Warlock's Tights: The traditional legging of a Female Red mage, tailored toward casting, it gives her a general boost in her MP, along with giving an added boost toward all spells, especially healing/defensive spells.

Warlock's Boots: The traditional heel of a Female Red mage, tailored toward casting, it gives her a general boost in her MP, the MP boost much higher then her other equipment.

Witch Sash: A gift from an old friend, it Increases the chance of hitting with spells and also causing critical hits with spells.

Rainbow cape: Rarely worn, since it does not follow red mage uniform code...But it gives her a nice boost in all resistances.

Morgana's Choker: A beautiful choker won in a contest of magic, it allows her to swap her MP and HP maximum amounts as she sees fit, costing 40 MP and HP each time.

Mana Ring: A utilitarian ring that increases mana, she wears two of them.

Moldavite Earring: A beautiful set of Ruby earrings that match the outfit, and also increase the force of her offensive spells.



Specific FF Spells:

En______: MP cost: 12 Adds Excel's choice of elemental damage to Target's weapob. Only one element can be cast at a time.

____ Spikes: MP cost 30: Excel's body becomes covered in Elemental damaging spikes of her choice, damaging attackers. Only one element can be cast at a time.

Refresh: MP cost: 40 : Target gradually regains health over time, in eka's terms all wounds will slowly heal, and she will even regenerate lost limbs.

Invisible: MP Cost: 15: Excel turns herself invisible, increasing evasion. This skill lasts for about 2 minutes before it must be recast, in Eka's terms.

Stoneskin: MP Cost 29: Excel's body becomes like stone, increasing defense. In terms of Eka's, she becomes impossibly heavy, and her body feels like stone itself, though she can still move...just not very well, think of her like a stone golem in this form.

Mighty Guard: MP cost 60: All allies gain Wall/Shell And one charge of Nulfire/blizzard/thunder/water.

Hastera: MP cost 80: All allies speed up significantly.

Blizzard class spells: MP cost 5/15/45/90: Blizzard/Blizzara/Blizzanga/Blizzangun are her specific class of magic, she either able to stretch the damage between all foes, or focus it on a single enemy. Blizzangun is always cast upon one enemy and deals the most damage of any.

New spells:

Analyze: 10 mp: A simple spell that allows her to learn the various different bits of information on her enemies, Including HP, MP, Level, and Elemental and Status Immunites.

Cure Class spells: MP cost: 10/30/50 Cure/Cura/Curaga are three spells, ironically learned to shove it in the face of another mage, that she has actually found good use towards, they now giving her a better party-based option when fighting to assist everyone around her.


Abilities:

Dualcast: No MP cost Just like her brethren and sistren in the order of Red magic, she is able to cast two spells at the same time, no matter the situation, Though she will never be as strong as a black or white mage because of this.

Multicast: 2x MP cost of all spells : If she choses to really amp things up, Excel can cast even more spells at once, though it takes a fine degree of focus to do so, taking more magic power to cast spells past the second.

Clear Mind: No MP cost: Being a red mage takes a lot of strategic thought, and once ability used within the order allows her to slowly regain her MP over time, simply by standing still. Resting further increases the speed of her MP recovery.

Mime: Variable MP Cost: A specific ability Excel has focused on personally, any attack she sees done in the middle of battle, or even just thrown out in demonstration is analyzed by her. Red Mages, being the masters of versatility, have powerful analytical mind, not always focused entirely on spell casting, can let their mind wander, simply letting them copy the tactic of their party members, or even enemy forces. Any MP based skill, obviously must cost the same MP, and Excel still is limited by her stats only.
