Reginleif

What does it mean to be immortal? What does it mean to live forever?

Well, that depends on who you ask, whether or not you believe in god, and, as well, whether or not certain scientific theories are ever proven. It could mean a lot of things, in the end. However, for the present time... well, if you knew Reginleif, you could ask her. After all, she has experience.

Born sometime in the seven hundreds AD, in Europe, in the Germany of the time. She was born to a tribe of Norsemen, to Vikings, in fact, and, well, she was clearly different at first. Some feared dark magic, some feared disease, some feared something ELSE, unknown. Others... had more unusual thought lines. She was born to a widow, with blue hair, on a cold day in winter, healthy and hungry, bawling up a storm. But for her blue hair, and what it may have signified, she would have been in the same situation as every other girl and woman in the tribe. As things stood, though, things were rather different for her.

Over time, it became clear that she was different. There were incidents, and accidents, which would have significantly harmed anyone else. However, she came through with barely a scratch, if anything at all. Some of those 'accidents' were too convenient to be true accidents, as well, not that it mattered in the end. The elders and king were persuaded to observe her, and see what happened in the end.

Regi grew up, of course, and she grew up nicely, becoming a quite attractive young woman. However, this had some interesting consequences.

The end result of her upbringing was a headstrong, confident young woman who did NOT believe that certain individuals should be allowed to do just anything to her, anytime they pleased. Things came to a head when a promising young warrior took it into his head to have his way with her. It was here that she proved how extraordinary she was.

The young man was bodily hurled through a nearby wall. One leg was broken, as was his nose, while his shoulder was dislocated. Needless to say, this was rather extraordinary, and not at all something that anyone had expected, especially Regi, who had gone by another name until that point. However, her abilities had a simple explanation to the religious tribesfolk: She was the daughter of one or more gods. She was given a new, more fitting name, and given into the care of a grizzled, one-eyed veteran, to be trained. He was given permission to treat her however he pleased, and asked to train her to the best of his abilities. It took a while to beat his authority into her skull, and several heavy clubs, too, but it eventually took.

Reginleif spent the next ten years of her life in the camp, learning how to fight with spear, bow, axe, and sword. When she wasn't in the camp, she was in the wilderness, learning how to hunt and fend for herself, learning everything she would need to know how to do to survive, should anything happen to her, or the tribe, or the war party if she should be part of a failed raid. She was trained in all the things by this one-eyed man, taught how to take care of herself no matter what happened. Survival, combat, and a few other things besides.

And Regi had no choice but to learn, in the end. She had to learn, else she'd never really be FREE again. At first, she was a little irritated by all of this, but over time she came to a sort of grudging admiration for the old man. His stories were incredible, his adventures almost unbelievable, but in a world that allowed for her own incredible abilities she could believe almost anything.

You can probably already tell what eventually happened to her. She lived, plain and simple... while everyone else grew old, and died. She became a capable, hotheaded warrior, and over time learned patience and even greater skill, as well as more about herself. When more advanced civilization took over Germany, she eventually became a knight errant, beholden to no lord.

Of course, she was forced to disguise her gender at the time. If you've studied European History, you know what things were like at the time. However, she couldn't keep her secret forever. Eventually, she was found out, and after that she was captured... this was at the time of the Inquisition. One of them, anyway.

She spent more than a hundred years in prison, locked away under order of the Church. She was tortured several times, to no effect. She was, eventually, burned at the stake. AS you may have guessed, this didn't take. When it became clear they could do nothing to her that would last or even inflict permanent harm, they locked her away again.

A hundred and fifty years was more than enough, for her. She was starving, but healthy, due to her nature, and her powers had been developing as well. Eventually, she broke her shackles and stole away in the night, stealing weapons, clothing, and food. She vanished from record at this time, forgotten by all but a few, and left to do as she saw fit.

Of course, what she wanted to do was live, and live she did. She's seen more incredible, pivotal moments in her life than any one of us can hope to, many times firsthand. She's changed her identity and lifestyle more than a few times. She's fought in civil wars, revolutions, and a few nasty, nasty little incidents that people would rather forget existed. She's lived in Europe, Asia, America, and other places besides.

Fast forward to the 2000s. Superheroes have started to become commonplace, having first truly emerged in the 1940s. Reginleif has stepped into the light once more to try something new, and interesting.... under a new name, of course, though her identity is known.

Fighting as the Cobalt Crusader, she's amused by her choice of name, having been in one or two crusades herself, and she's thrilled... because now she has a challenge. She has difficult fights with people who are closer to being on par with her. And she is still developing new powers. Life is looking like it will be interesting for a long time to come.

Her powers, for the curious, are gravity manipulation, superhuman strength, and immortality. If you want to know more, well, you could ask, or, you could RP! ... best to ask to RP, though, instead of jumping in. I dislike IC PMs from strangers. ^^;

Never/Dislike Partner gender doesn't matter as much as partner character. If I like your character and think he/she/it will work with Regi, then I might be inclined to play.
