Utsuho is one of Satori's pets, a Hell raven who has lived in the underground world since before it was separated from Hell. Her job, at one time, was to regulate the flames of the Hell of Blazing Fires....till one day, she was told by a voice (presumably Kanako Yasaka's) that she could swallow the god, Yatagarasu, that was hidden in the flames to gain a power that would fulfill the wishes of both the worlds below and above the surface.
...This power was nuclear fusion....
Utsuho misunderstood what the voice had told her, and decided that, using these powers, she would take over Gensokyo. Her friend, Rin Kaenbyou, became worried about Utsuho, and drove evil spirits to the surface to cause an incident among the strong youkai above ground, in hope that they would come down to do something about it and, when they got there, defeat Utsuho and bring her back to her former self. What came, however, was not a strong youkai, but a strong human....

She had lost, to say the least, the battle....in the end the shrine maiden Reimu would deal the last blow and stop the rampant invasion that Utsuho would attempt....Returning to the burning depths, she would return to her former position in regulating the flames...
...but she would begin to ponder once more...

Things to note about utsuho (personality etc)
* The red eye is proof that Utsuho obtained the power of fusion by absorbing the three-legged crow, Yatagarasu, because the three-legged crow's eyes are red,
*Utsuho believes in giving people a sporting chance when she releases her spell cards, said to be some of the strongest. Numerous nuclear symbols appear around the control rod, with the wor "Caution" between them, Klaxons blaring in the background
*Many people think Utsuho is stupid...Naive and horribly forgetful is a better way of putting it, she is by no means stupid, and can rather easily follow even the most technical of conversations. She just loses her focus at times, and knows little of the world outside of her own....and she can forget things in the middle of a conversation. Seriously, she can.
*Many people also think Utsuho is evil...True, she did wish to envelope all of gensokyo in flames, but that can be contributed to simple confusion toward her purpose after absorbing the power. Before all that, she had a peaceful life managing the flames, and now prefers going back to that sort of peace..
*Utsuho herself, though powerful, doesn't necessarily want to fight. Sure, she likes fighting and spell card battles, but as it stated above, she had a peaceful life before she absorbed the god, and does enjoy moments of relaxation.
*Utsuho needs to release fusion energy from time to time no matter what. So if she has not found a battle in a while, she will egg someone on into one...if she cant find someone, she'll just fire a Giga flare up into the sky, generally confusing people all through Gensokyo.
* After the incident below ground, she had took to wandering a bit too much at times....even to her detriment.
*Utsuho isn't completely naive though...if you know what I mean...

Flight: Being one of the strongest hell crows, she has the ability to fly, and extremely fast, though she has trouble turning and making sudden stops, more of a rocket then a helicopter.
Strength: Utsuho alone is quite strong, able to swing her Iron/Lead control rod with ease, and create rather massive shock-waves simply by slamming it into the ground.
Fusion: Though its a simple term, it has a lot of weight on both her spell cards and her general attacks/danmaku. She can, with assistance from her control rod, create fusion reactions on multiple scales, firing from nuclear danmaku in the shape of miniature suns, to one of the grandest being literally creating an artificial sun to begin dragging everything around her into it rapidly. She can also expel the energy in a highly concentrated beam, but that generally takes far more out of her then she prefers to use.

Two explosions power the next two, which power the next two. Is this what happened on that island?
The first spell card she will generally release, sending out numerous sun-like blasts to try and overwhelm the enem, while peppering behind them with a swirling torrent of danmaku, trying to catch her opponent off guard.

Nuclear Heat: Uncontainable Dive
Such speed! Though she keeps running into walls to stop and turn...must be hard to turn with that much speed..
Covering herself in the power of fusion, she literally pinballs off the boundary walls while aiming for her foe in an intense tackle...as it says above, she tends to only be able to go in a straight line like that...

A blade of energy...She sometimes uses this as a big flashlight... seriously now?
Creates a blade-like energy beam from Okuu's control rod. Limited range, but if used at close range, the move covers quite a large area. Technically more of a shaped charge as she cant contain it like a normal blade or slash with it.

An overwhelming number of explosions, shrinking as they speed towards you.
Similar to her first spell card, it instead releases numerous explosions in a cascading fashion toward her foe, coupled with danmaku once again, though this time its all fired in an extremely random pattern downward.

Houyi only shot down nine suns, but you have to stop all ten. Luckily, there's still a place for you to stand.
The first of her true sun techniques, creates ten suns, spinning opposite of each other while trying to hammer her foe with danmaku in the cracks...said to have a safe spot between them, but is hard to navigate.

Heaven on one side, Hell on the other. Is it strange that they look so similar?
Called an allusion to the fight between heaven and hell, a pair of intensely powerful suns are shot to trap the foe between them, and blasts of danmaku are shot from either side. The middle is both the safest and most dangerous place to lie at the same time.

Considered to be her weakest, strongest...well most versatile technique...she literally pulls out all the stops and creates a star...plain and simple, that begins to pull all sources of energy and matter toward it to feeds its fusion reaction...its the weakest and the strongest simply because of how it can be controlled...to the point that if it gets too strong...it could be unstoppable...

An impossible technique without the control of Yatagarasu, she starts a fusion reaction within her own body, converting all but the last bit of her energy into a final blast of power...But she only leaves enough energy to survive and escape if need be....though, how one would escape...
Alternate universe
As one day Gensokyo was invaded by strange beings, which could be identified by Sanae (who apparently knows a bit more about such things than you would think) to be Metroids, chaos spread inside the town. Youkai suddenly started to run berserk.
The Metroids invaded the former Hell of Blazing Fires and settled down in the underground of Gensokyo. Since Marisa and Reimu were busy taming the mad Youkai, it was impossible for them to investigate the Metroid's hideout.
So another resident had to take the role of the hero this time. (And since the hideout is an incredibly hot place, it couldn't be Cirno. She'd melt...)
There is only one person fitting for that job. Utsuho Reiuji. She puts on her nuclear power suit, which was built by no other than Nitori herself, and heads to the former Hell of Blazing Fires.
Her mission?
Destroy all the Metroids...at all costs.
