Rin comes from a rather unique city. In most places your place in society is set by one of a few things. It might be money, connections, or political power, and while thats still relatively true where Rin comes from, its more based on one other thing: size. The bigger your... Assets, the higher you are seen in society. The reason that money or influence still matters is because its pretty easy to buy a few people to get those sizes up. Essentially the way it works, if someone of generally larger size makes a request of you, you can't turn them down no matter what. Of course thats only in public. Anything can happen behind closed doors. As you can tell Rin isn't exactly lacking in size.
