Ryu is a special Riolu, not just because he is a shiny, but also because he has a bit of dragonic blood in him. He understand dragon language pretty easily, and is a wild pokemon with a high bounty on his head, since he's so special. But don't let this fool you, he is a wonderful riolu who'd never give up on his friends, no matter what happened.

He was once a student of the best martial arts teacher in the Kanto Region, Master Sensei Alakazam. He has since lost his teacher to a trainer, who slipped away.
