Specialist Samantha Traynor is the Comm Specialist aboard the Alliance Normandy SR-2, serving in a similar role to that of her predecessor, Yeoman Kelly Chambers. Her parents were originally from London, but they preferred the freedom of colony life. After growing up on Horizon, Samantha spent some time in England when she attended Oxford University. Her parents didn't have money for sending her to a university, but she was able to pursue her studies as the Alliance offered her full scholarship after seeing her aptitude scores.

Samantha is very intelligent and has a quick and keen intellect, and she is especially talented with technical stuff and computer problems. The girl has a strong British accent. Samantha later reveals that she was visiting her parents on her birth planet, Horizon, when the Collectors attacked. Apart from being clever and technically gifted, she is friendly, helpful, a bit naive and very talkative, often babbling whatever comes to mind when she is shy or nervous about something.

The communication expert stands at a relatively short height and has a mostly slim, delicate body. She is pretty although not exactly curvy or busty, although her rump is nice and decently shaped. Samantha has jet-black, short and shiny hair, brown eyes and fair, slightly tanned skin. Usually, she wears the standard uniforms, and in private she prefers casual, form fitting outfits such as shirts and jeans or cloth pants. She is not exactly kinky or frisky, but has a naughty side too, although that is well-hidden. Samantha is strictly into girls though, being a lesbian. Somehow, her immune system seems to be a bit weak, as she regularly takes medicine against allergies, headaches and other small maladies.
