Gensokyo, called by some the eternal dream. A realm where humans live happily alongside the youkai that once terrorized their legends, and where what to us is fantasy is the inhabitants' fantastic existence...
And, like a dream, it is malleable. Millions of different dreamers all dreaming the same dream... it's no wonder so many people see it so differently.
"Because this place called Gensokyo always provides room for choice to everyone. There are as many Gensokyos as people dare to fantasize."

Whether it's true or not, people certainly see the world differently. We are only given specific events... each of us is left to connect the dots differently. Relationships, births, deaths... some daring people have crafted entire characters, or even whole incidents not spoken of by the master storyteller ZUN.
In some of these universes, there is a young Kansai-ben girl named
Chitose Izumo who was drawn into Gensokyo by the infamous gap youkai Yukari, and eventually came to live within the fantasy realm, becoming the shrine maiden to Minoriko and Shizuha Aki. In all of those universes, she became strong friends with the fairy
Daiyousei. But only in some did that friendship grow into romance between the human and the sweet yousei (much to Byakuren's delight, of course). And in at least one, the magician Byakuren just happened to know a particular spell...
Sara is a child of that Gensokyo. And of the aforementioned shrine maiden and fairy. A half-fairy, she is ageless but not immortal like her full-blooded counterparts. (A rough analogy would be to compare her to Tolkien's elves, except that she can't really get sick or "die of grief" either. Just from being asploded.) She is roughly child-sized, like Cirno and other high-power fairies, and has inherited her human mother's clear blue eyes and her yousei mother's lively green hair. Also, like normal fairies, she is closely associated with an aspect of nature, in her case flowers. This shows rather heavily in her choice of outfits; a typical one displaying her usual motif is shown in this profile's picture. She also has delicate, pale lavender wings, though they're a bit more like a dragonfly's (but still tapering and curved.)
So, what is she like? Besides a constant source of joy for Akyu, seeing as she has a totally new sort of being to write about? Well... she's
definitely a fairy. Playful, childish (well she -is- pretty young still, despite her ageless child appearance), and possibly even more fond of playing pranks than Sunny. She's definitely her mothers' daughter, though- both of them. Pranks are one thing, but when they're dangerous people tend to get upset. Or end up badly hurt. Luckily Daiyousei has been quite capable of at the very least getting Sara to stick to pranks that won't hurt people.
Most of the time. She's a kid, she forgets things sometimes when she's having fun!
Sara also has a bit of cheek in her... as probably most evidenced by the fact that she refuses to address Cirno as anything other than "Auntie Nineball". Despite this (or maybe it's because of it?), Sara is quite the popular little thing. The playful little scamp has quite a few friends scattered around Gensokyo, whether forged through one of her mothers' old friendships or on her own... including, strangely enough, the "sadistic" flower youkai Yuuka. Maybe it's because half of Sara basically embodies her beloved flowers, or because the playful han-yousei simply has a great and instinctive love for them, or maybe she's just happy to have a fairy around that -doesn't- do stupid, pointless things with her flowers. Either way, Yuuka almost dotes on Sara; hurt her and there's probably a better-than-even chance that within seconds you're going to get a Master Spark jammed quite literally up your ass. Maybe a Double Spark if she's feeling particularly vindictive.
As for the future? Well, Sara can be played at a number of different times in her life. Chitose hopes one day that she'll be able to raise the girl to be her successor as Aki miko, but at least in her early years the training is... sporadic at best. Doesn't stop the girl from sometimes going out in a smaller version of Chitose's miko uniform, though...
Overall, Sara is a playful sort. She's a fairy in every sense of the word, but at the same time she's as clever and fond as any human. She's far from the idiocy that people tend to attribute to fairies in general, or to Cirno in particular; she's intelligent and quite capable of forming lasting bonds. She's not a regular fairy, and she knows it, but it definitely doesn't stop her from acting the part. And, well... pranks and snark and all, her mothers couldn't be prouder~
